I read in a post that there was an add-on (collectors addition) to IWD2. Has anyone heard of it?

The collectors edition merely added a couple of new store keeps from whome you could get/buy some interesting items. If you have the ease-of-use mod, it has a component which does the same and you dont miss out on anything.

Yeah, the Ease of Use mod is the easiest way to get the bonus merchants. But I don't recommend tinkering with all of the mod options unless you have already played the game a bit.

No, not really. SP is the easiest way to get the 1 merchant missing. The other one is actually in the game regardless of whether you have the Collector's edition or not.
See http://www.sorcerers.net/Games/IWD2/index_editors1.php
It's as easy as the BG2 bonus merchants on SP.

Okay ... that answers why I've been unable to get the brazen bands ... what about the Every Gods ring ... I'm currently in HOF and I couldn't find it the first time going through Kuldahar ...

Why aren't there any content mods for IWD2? Are the specifics of the IE really that different in this game? I'd love to have some more places to explore.

No one's interested. Undead Targos is the only mod IWD 2 has.
It only follows from IWD itself. It too has only one mod to its name.

Well, there was going to be the biggest, greatest IWDII add-on of them all . . . . Icewind Gate, which allowed you to play the BGII story in IWDII. But unfortunately it never got past beta stage.
