View Full Version : uninstalling Weimer's mod

Currently, I have components of the ease of use mod and the undead in Targos mod installed. Having now gone through the game, ending in a fight with Isair and Madae in which my bard's Warchant of the Sith successfully kept my tanks healed--for they had impressive damage reduction from their armor and shields--, I would like to play the game normally (maybe I'll keep the harder Torak and the bug fixes).

This is where the problem arises. I can't uninstall it. The manul said to simply rerun the install.exe and choose to uninstall the components. I've tried it. It did not work. So, I'm stuck with a bunch of skeletons in Targos and some ungodly armor on my characters. My question is how I can fix this.

My first thought is to just erase everything in the override folder, but I don't know the extent to which this will work. For example, does that also get rid of the cutscenes, such as where Caballus teleports in a copy of himself?

My second thought is to uninstall the game. That will end in the waste of 30 mins.

I'd post this on Weimer's board, but when I try to access the page--not the board. I didn't save the URL to it--, both through a search engine and through my favorite places, it just says the page is not there.

OK, that's odd. I also use the Weimer Ease-Of-Use mod (though not yet the Undead Targos mod), and I have never had a problem uninstalling or reinstalling any component.

May I ask what options you chose when re-running the install? I have just re-run the installer, and it first asks you what to do with 1. Components that are not installed; then 2. Components that are installed, in each case giving you the option to Skip, silently Install/Uninstall or Ask about each component. I tell it to ask me for each one (whether it is installed or not), and have never had a problem. If you are just telling the installer to Uninstall silently, maybe you should try the other way.

Sorry that I don't know enough about the Override folder to tell you what to do there (I wouldn't mess with it, myself, as some of the mods change the id's of items and you wouldn't want your Paladin wearing a book in his/her boots slot).

However, I can do this:

Weimer's IWD2 mods page (http://www.weidu.org/iwd2.html)

Weimer's Other IE Mods forums (http://forums.fwstudios.net/index.php?act=SF&f=49)

Westley Weimer's email: weimer@cs.berkeley.edu

Hope this helps.

IŽd try the W-E again. There shouldnŽt be any problems at all uninstalling. If you cant uninstall the W-E IŽd uninstall the game. DoesnŽt really take that long unless you have a *2 speed cd-rom. And unless youŽre going to go through the game with the same characters IŽd delete everything in the folder where itŽs installed after uninstall.
