Precise Shot is used when the enemy is practically on top of you, close enough to hit you in melee.
If you are any further away, this feat is not required.

I would disagree that preicse shot is not required, I think you are confusing precise with point blank, Shrikant.

Precise and Rapid Shot, both have Point Blank as their pre-requisites.

Point Blank is if something is within 30 ft of you.
Precise is to negate the -4 penalty you have for shooting into melee
Rapid is to have an extra attack per round, but with penalties to that attack and your others.

So, precise and rapid aren't needed at all, but point blank is.

@Anarkii, if you are going to be shooting or throwing your weapons at the creatures your front line is attacking, I would definitely take precise shot.

Point Blank? WTF!?! Never heard of that feat.

In IWD II when you have a ranged weapon equipped and are being hit in melee you get a penalty of -8 to attack. Precise Shot reduces this penalty to -4.

Rapid Shot works with thrown weapons as well as ranged ones.

Both are documented features in IWD II.

Hmm okay youre quite correct Shrikant, given I only jus picked up the manual to double check. Point Blank is actually a correct feat but probably invisible in the game, pick up a 3rd ed ad&d manual sometime, I'd recommend.

I'd still say precise is more important than rapid, else you simply have even more horrendous penalties than the -8 you already have.

"Point Blank Shot" is indeed a D&D feat, but it's only in NWN and ToEE as far as I know. Since IWD2 is a *very* selective interpretation of D&D 3E rules, I don't think Point Blank Shot is in there.
