I'm rather dissapointed in this spell. I loved it in BG2, but now it's lost it's charm.

I can no longer cast defensive spells when in Sanctuary. Not without cancelling the spell anyway. Now according to 3rd edition DnD, I should be able to for example cast Resist Fire when I'm in Sanctuary. However, I tried that last night (in an attempt to conquer the 8th chamber) and as soon as I began casting, the Sanctuary went down. And no, this isn't because it's duration ended, I had just cast it.

So, is this some change they made, or is it a flaw in the game?

Then what's the use of Sanctuary? That you can drink healing potions unnoticed? Like you're drinking 'cough-medicine' (whats the word?) when mom musn't know?

Maybe there is a restriction to the spells you can cast on yourself only? No clue, just wondering...

Well according to the PHB (pag.247):
"This allows a warded cleric to heal wounds, for example, or to bless, perform an augury, summon creatures and so on."

Thing is, I know for sure I can't cast Animate Dead, and casting Resist Fire on myself isn't possible either, well not without cancelling Sanctuary anyway.

If I was able to cast without cancelling Sanctuary, the 8th chamber would've been a whole lot easier ;)

And the word you're looking for is coughsirup :book: :holy:

AAARGH! Why didn't they include a spell-description summery in the game manual, like in BG2? Seems we should download it from tips, tricks & hints....

Maybe there a wizzkid willing to edit this spell?

(Ex! You got work to do! ;) )

Yeah, you can't attack during Sanctuary, right?
Spell or physical.

It's a support spell. And I think it's a halfway decent spell, too.

I just never use it because I cut them down faster than I could cast it. ;)

Yes, EJsmith, you shouldn't be able to attack without cancelling Sanctuary. However 'Resist Fire' isn't considered an attack. It's a defensive spell.

What about having a bard drink a sanctuary potion (Im at work and not sure if this is a spell that can only affect the caster) and then use one of his songs? Would that cancel the santcuary spell?

This spell's in-game-description states that you can do nothing but MOVE while spell is active. Else, the spell wears off.
