I have killed everything in the caves and in the outer part of the fortress. When I try to enter the door in the middle of the fort all I get is a message saying that there is an unrecognizable rune etched in the middle of the door. How do I open the door? Thanks in advance.

You have to enter the fortress via the goblin warrens in the Southern part of the fortress exterior map. You cannot enter straight through the gate since you do not have the proper rune stones at this time. Go through the 2 levels of the goblin warrens and be sure to collect the 2 rune stones on level 2. There are several posts already pertaining to the warrens and the fortress on this board, also check the SP walkthrough if you are having troubles.

I have gone through the goblin warrens. But I missed a black ward stone somewhere. I'll se if I can go find it. Thanks.

I haven't gotten the other one yet, do you know where it is?

The second one - Iron Ward Stone - is on Gumph - the hobgoblin leader. He is in the butchery on the second level.
