As I understand it its a mix, the 3d rules eliminating THACO and AC below 0. I don't reaslly know what I'm talking about, though, I just read this on gamespot.

I was gonna ask about that THAC0 & AC thing. Any 3rd ed. players here willing to enlighten us as to what replaces them, and how combat works in 3rd ed. rules?

In 3E, a higher number is better rather than a lower number for AC, and you have to roll the AC of your opponent or higher to hit, so THAC0 is no longer needed.

The equivalent 3E AC for the 2E AC of 0 is 20. Base AC is 10 for both, so 0 is an improvement of 10 points for 2E and 20 is an improvement of 10 points for 3E.

I've played BG: Dark Alliance and noticed that the to hit and damage numbers where different. So is IWD 2 gonna play by those numbers?

I can't wait to play this and I'm glad they're using 3E rules for some of it (I was going to ask that same question...)

i heard that they were using a mixed combination of 2nd edition and 3rd edition rules but i'm probably wrong.
