Any idea why the release date keeps getting put back? It has been out for ages elsewhere - what changes have to be made from the US version for the UK?

Gaaaaah!! I know; this happens with just about every game that I want to get. I've no idea when the new release date will be and people in computer stores seem to be similarly clueless. I hope loads of the bugs which we've been hearing about will be fixed, but I fear thats wishful thinking.

I have an american copy of the game and I live in Europe and I can't find any problems, probably the only thing that changes is finding a company to distribute it and take the rights to make copies and then make copies of the game to sell and all of the problems that could be avoided by just importing the games

The EB games affiliate here in Sweden (www.tradition.se) says the release date is now pushed back to October 11.

Someone deserves to get beaten to a f*cking bloody mess for this release date screw up! :mad:

I wanted to get some serious play in before i started term and had to work - now it's going to come out mid-term and I'm going to get no work done.

On the following dates Tradition (EB affiliate in Sweden) advertised the following release dates:
- August 22: IWD 2 will be released in Sweden on August 30.
- August 28: IWD 2 will be released in Sweden on September 27.
- September 27: IWD 2 will be released in Sweden on October 11.
- October 7: IWD 2 will be released in Sweden on October 18.

Is it any wonder I get :flaming: :flaming: :flaming: flaming mad?

monkey - most of the delays are language issues. They need to change color to colour, armor to armour, defense to defence, etc...For you silly Brits! ;) :p :grin: :lol:

Is that really true? If so then I have an idea on how they can eliminate the delays caused by translating into 111 different languages:

- Print more copies of the US/Canadian version of the game.
- On the box you put a label which reads: "This game is made in US or Canada and uses American-English spelling. Deal with it!"

I'm so fed up with manuals constantly being translated - into Swedish in my case. Oh well, at least films aren't dubbed here. Oh yeah... and I don't live in Greece... so my gaming doesn't make me a criminal.

Actually, the dialogue is written in Canada, where we do not ordinarily practice bizarre spellings such as "Armor" for "Armour", or "Hor" for "Hour", or whatever else our adorably creative Southern neighbours do with the English language. They must translate the game's dialogue *into* American before releasing it! The marvel...

How can I import the game - I am fed up with waiting.

I tried amazon and they said they couldn't ship outside of the US - Is there anywhere online that will import it?

My UK copy has been on backorder so long that my card expired! Got an email today saying order cancelled due to card failure.

The only silver lining is that to my knowledge they only look to take payment when they are about to ship? There's hoping for you!

Particularly since latest UK release date is 18th as well.

Oh, and Monkey, there are UK sites that sell imports. If you go for a US one you're not likely to receive it before next Friday and it'll cost you a fortune. Buggered if I can find the link to the one I've seen tho'. Sorry. I'll add it if I can find it.

Chesterfield (Midlands?? Only if you count Scotland! ;) ) must be well ahead of it's time as Virgin Interactive have just pushed it out to November 8.

You aren't, but by now almost everyone either bought it in US and had it shipped to Europe, or got a pirated version. Which is really sad. But obviously Interplay can't get another distributer, even if this one is worthless.

I have completely given up on importing IWD2 as the only website that I have found that will import it (play247 and a few others that I have heard people saying import do not) is Chips & Bits and they want me to fax/email them a scanned image of both sides of my credit card - As I dont have a scanner or a fax machine easily available I cant be bothered with the hassle and what possible reason could they have for wanting this information? Ive never heard of any other place asking for this - Is this usual Chips & Bits policy

No... only when they suspect that the card might have been stolen, and they need actual proof that you have the card, not just the numbers. This has happened to me once or twice before as well. (Not with C&B.) I didn't send that to them, of course. Way too much potential for abuse.

I seen this game available for download in warez channels since the start of August, but waited patiently for it to come out in Ireland at the end of august/start of september.
2 bloody months later and I've given in and warezed it, I've bought bg1+tosc,iwd,bg2+tob and ps:t but this is one blackisle game I wont buy.

I just saw on Amazon.co.uk that the release was moved again to November 8! I have givin up on it ever coming out in Europe and I'll just wait and get in America at Christmas.

In Game in Stockport today. They think they have the boxes in the Manchester store, but certainly not there.

Annoying I admit, especially as copies are certainly out there over in the States. The game is ready, so realease the thing.

Ended up buying TOCA, TOCA2, GTA, GTA London and Giants for £10, so I ain't too bothered at the moment. Two pretty good title there (thus far).

Edit: It certainly hasn't reached this part of Derbyshire. But then neither has anything faster than dial-up.

Is it truly in Stockport? I live there but at the moment Im at uni and am living in Coventry - Have to ring my sister and get her to buy it for me.

Well it wasn't yesterday. Should be down there sometime next week, but Coventry is the larger of the two.

This is for Sweden, but I believe Swe and UK have the same release date.

I get a sneaking suspicion that the constant delays of one or two weeks is a deliberate attempt to trick the customers.
Here is why:
The distributor - Virgin, I believe - can't get a good enough deal so they choose instead to delay. Now if they had said in August that the delay might be 2-3 months that would have been enough incentive for a lot of european customers to get it sent from the US (mail order or via a US acquaintance) right away. Naturally that hurts future european sales of the game.

Well, is my reasoning logical or did I miss something?

13 November? :cry: How can it take so long? I wonder what are the differences between US and UK versions.

If I understand this correctly the UK/European games have been ready for a long time, it's Virgin (european distributor) that aren't happy with their deal and thus are trying to negotiate a better deal, meanwhile delaying the release.

Another thing; don't trust in 13 November as the release date. It's quite possible that they decide that since it's been delayed this long they might as well make it a christmas release.

And guess what? All my snotty emails and the not so sarcastic ones to Virgin have gone completely un-answered.

If there is anything to this stuff about Virgin wanting better terms, then they've just f****d up royally. The only thing they've achieved by pushing out the release is a huge loss of sales! Imports and pirated/downloads will not exactly be reduced here.

Let's see: We want 10% better terms. We've lost 20% of sales to do this. You don't need to be Einstein to do the maths!

OK; thats probably more excitement than the game warrants as it hasnt seemed too amazing so far. Then again, Irenicus' dungeon was hardly a thrilling opening to one of my favourite games ever, so IWDII still shows promise. This character development deal will take some getting used to. Also, at least its the 2.01 version thats been released here.

Yup, the owner of a computer game store informed me that the reason Sweden has to wait until Nov 13 is that when the truck from the swedish sub-distributor arrived at Virgins storehouse to get the games there were no personnel there so the truck had to leave empty.

Ouch; thats got to sting. Having had some time time play it properly (after the inevitable few false starts) I'm starting to get into the game prper and its starting to get pretty damn good; hold out just a bit longer and you shouldn't be disapointed.

Personally my initial impressions are that it is a potential very gopod game spoiled by a lack of thought.

And not entirely convinced by all the new 3rd edition rules. Some good, some unessessarily complicatated, and still haven't got round to sorting out the ballistics.

YES!!! I finally have it but now I've got work to do so I can't play for a while. Grrrr. I'm not sure whether I should be happy or annoyed.

So the game is released in Europe two months after it is released in North America? It doesn't seem fair how three countries make forty billion or so wait. Oh well, there is not a thing you can do, except a hostile takeover. But, I came here to gloat. Ha, my CD is about two months old, and has some small scratches, ha ha h... damn. :hahaerr:

Well, not in all Europe. I don't know the reason why, but here in Spain Virgin hasn't still released the game.
The estimated release date is 'Coming soon...', and it has been so for more than a month now, so makes me think if it'll ever be released :mad: :flaming:

It's great that IWD2 is finally released over here but ... why is the Spells & Tables manual only included as a .pdf file on the CD?

I think they didn't print Spells & Tables, because it is too long (over 80 pages and game manual itself is 83 pages)

(Sweden) I went around and asked the shops in town today and one of them now says they'll have the game on Friday 15th.

I have IWD2! One problem though...

I am not allowed to open it yet - until I know how much memory it takes up, I can't find out how much it takes up until I have opened it though. Can someone here tell me? :rolleyes:
