Well, I think the tome is the very reason any IWD2 player should include at least one of the uber-races in their party like Drow or Deep Gnome.

If you don't include such a race, a multi-classed character certainly fits the bill.

Beyond that, I would end up going with a Wizard, who relatively speaking has the most to gain from it.

Anyone thought of giving it to the member with lowest level?

If you create the whole party at the beginning of the game, they'll all be the same level all the time. I gave it to my mage, just because I like mages. :D

I'd give it to any of my ECL characters to boost their levels. Deep gnome monks really need the help.

And even this time it is futile Teekc, sorry, because Taluntain has help as well. :heh: Tal said he gave it to his mage, because he likes mages. That clearly means he prefers is his mage to have it over the practical use of the tome for other classes/races, even deep gnomes. And it's the sole reason he gives. Though one could also argue he wants to have the gnome at a lower level, because that would up the experience received per kill, and thus more EXP for his entire party. :)

Perhaps Tal didn't even have a deep gnome in his party.

If I have one or more character with ECL race, how could they be at the same level? (I am not arguing, just asking  )
I have a party including a drow, a tiefling and two aasimars. They are one level lower from my human and shield dwarf. Drow read the book of normal and she sure will read the HoF book once I get it. :p BTW, drow is diviner, a mage! :shake:

Does anyone know how much it will cost to buy the HoF book? I have a paladin with 30 CHA and "Mercantile Background" feat.

Indeed, I don't have any non-standard races in my party, so they're all the same level all the time. They all level up at about the same time too. ;)

As for the reason why to give the tome to a mage... Well, because if you play with 6 characters and only intend to go through the game 1 time, it makes sense for the mage to be as high level as possible to be able to cast the highest level spells. I doubt I'll get to cast level 9 spells, but at least I'll hit level 8. (Of course, the present lack of high level spells is discouraging... I've had 1 level 7 spell slot open for the whole chapter now, but there are no level 7 spells I could get anywhere. .)

P.S.
I paid 109k for the tome with my 16 CHA paladin... So you should get it for half that much.

Tal:
I presume that you speak of normal mode. But I need to know the price for HoF book. I have more than 500k gp now and in Ice Temple. Should I start to keep my money or will I be OK?

Yes, I'm talking about a non-HoF game... I haven't a clue how much it would be in HoF...
