View Full Version : Another Battle Squares Question.
Shrikant Thu, 13th Nov '03, 2:19pm It is said that winning 3 squares is level 1 of a rank,
going up till level 5 for 7 squares.
Am I supposed to do all 5 levels of every rank for the rewards or will doing just level 5 be enough?
I am currently at rank 5 having done 7 squares for each rank once.
I dont want to go back and do each rank 5 times. :help: :coffee: :help:
teekc Thu, 13th Nov '03, 2:42pm you have to complete all 5 levels to finish a rank. Go back and start again, soldier, you are not finish yet.
motub Thu, 13th Nov '03, 3:51pm You only need to complete level 1 rank 1 (3 battles) to get the necessary item to continue the game.
Battle Squares is otherwise completely optional-- especially since in order to become a Battle Squares Master takes 250 battles (10 levels at 25 battles per level [3+4+5+6+7], not counting reloads).
If you actually want to complete some or all levels of Battle Squares, it's a good idea to get a sheet of paper and note down what ranks of what levels you have completed-- otherwise there's no way to know unless you fight the whole battleset again and don't get anything....!. However, the game doesn't forget what you have already done, so you can leave and come back and not have to re-do any ranks/levels you've already completed.

Doesnt even begin to say it.
Say do you get a reward/XP at the end of every battle or and every rank?
Already wiped out the Ice temple, so its the only thing keeping me there.
motub Thu, 13th Nov '03, 5:32pm You do usually get something (some XP or gold or a gem) at the end of every rank.
But you do know you can leave the Ice Temple and come back to Battle Squares, right? You can go all the way to the end of Chapter 3 (not to spoil, but you should already know that when you get into Oswald's ship, there's no going back, so don't do that if you want to go back and complete BS), and still return to complete BS.
And of course, you don't have to complete Battle Squares. You can choose to just complete the levels that give you the items you happen to want. Level 6 is very popular, for the Club of Disruption, for instance. Check the walkthrough or Item List on the main site to find out what the rewards are for each level and just do those.
I tried that, but then I got to Chapter 3 and needed some money to buy stuff from a merchant, so I went back and finished BS, sold most of the items, and bought what I wanted. So I am in fact a Battle Squares Master, and I can say that it was 1. tough; 2. sometimes extremely annoying; 3. sometimes very satisfying; 4. ultimately quite satisfying (running around the house bellowing "I AM the Battle Squares Master!!!!" is stupid but fun, and believe me, after 250 battles, you won't care how your housemates look at you ;) :D ).
Shrikant Thu, 20th Nov '03, 9:59am After finishing the time loop I was recalled back to the Ice temple. But after wacking all those weaklings I find I cant play battle squares again.
WHY?
I wanna do rank 9-10 :wail:
Quicho Thu, 20th Nov '03, 1:25pm You cannot. After 'leaving chapter 3' the battle square is not available.
motub Thu, 20th Nov '03, 7:02pm By the way, does BS get way harder in HoF mode? Not that it wasn't already way hard... just curious if anyone tried it, or if it's even available.
Mokona=Modoki Fri, 21st Nov '03, 1:11am Technically, the point of no return is after chapter 5, since the area in which chapter 2, 3 and 4 take place are mutually traversible.
Gerrymander Fri, 21st Nov '03, 6:14am Concerning BS in HOF mode: As with almost every creature in HOF (including townsfolk), yes the enemies in BS do become more powerful. Not only that, but more powerful monsters will also begin appearing at lower ranks.
motub Fri, 21st Nov '03, 7:51pm Hojo Jojo, I always heard that once you get into Oswald's ship at the end of Chapter 3, you can't go back to previous areas (I assume from Kuldahar, but I'm not to the end of Chapter 3 yet). This fits with the idea that 1) Oswald's ship always crashes in some out-of-the-way place and you can't travel using it; and 2) Chapter 4 being similar to Chapter 2-3, where you are warned a number of times before leaving Targos/getting into Oswald's ship that you "had better have everything you need" (because you will not be able to go back if you don't).
So how do you get back to the Ice Temple from the Chapter 4 areas?
