Uytuun Sun, 19th Jan '03, 11:13am Let him/her dual wield. They have the ambidexterity feat and two weapon fighting for free at the beginning of the game.
Khelben Sun, 19th Jan '03, 11:15am I know i should dual wield but i don't know which class to multi :(
Uytuun Sun, 19th Jan '03, 11:20am Try sorcerer (or wizard). A sorcerer with good hitpoints and two weapon fighting is a great addition to the party.
Faragon Sun, 19th Jan '03, 12:26pm Personally I went with a fighter multiclass. Then again, I've already got four other spellcasters in my party ;)
Sorcerer would be a good choice, kind of like the Fighter/Mage from 2nd edition. That kind of ranger can be very powerfull. (Think Stoneskin ;) )
Edit: Of course, a Ranger/Druid would make a very good character as well... And would make sense characterwise.

Khelben Sun, 19th Jan '03, 1:03pm So i can try human then, and what about other classes to multi a wizard like Paladin of Mystra
?
Uytuun Sun, 19th Jan '03, 2:40pm Keep in mind that a paladin must be lawful good.
And I don't think a paladin/ranger makes sense. You'd better go for a plain ranger or paladin. Unless of course you badly need the pally's turning ability.
Faragon Sun, 19th Jan '03, 3:58pm It depends on which role your Ranger is gonna play. If he is gonna arch a lot, have a race with Dex boosting.
For dex, the following races are good.
Tiefling (+2 Dexyou also get a +2 to hide)
Elves (+2 Dex, martial proficiency Bows)
Drow (would be good for a Archer/Sorcerer or Wizard multiclass.)
Wildelves (penalty is in the INT region, instead of in CON, which makes it easier for him to melee if possible.)
Deep gnome (+2 DEX and WIS. (for ranger spells))
Strongheart Halfling (Not only +2 dex, but also +2 move silently, +1 Savings,+1 to hit with ranged weapons and a bonus feat at first level)
Khelben Sun, 19th Jan '03, 5:39pm Heh sorry for misunderstanding my englih sux :(
Uytuun:I meant Paladin of Mystra + Wizard or Ranger + Wizard?,IMO Paladin + Fighter is better than Paladin+Wiz so that's why i think that i must multi someone to wizard,my group has only 1 magician(sorc).Anyway thanks for advices i've made a ranger + fighter :)
Rekiller Mon, 20th Jan '03, 7:03am RANGERS ROCKS!!!!!!!!!!!, in all games Neverwinter,d&d, icewind dale2 II.
I always multiclass my ranger like this:
Ranger X, Fighter 7, Rogue 4
In IWD2 this abilities:
STR:15 +2
DEX:18 +4
CON:14 +2
WIS:10 +0
INT:8 -1
CHA:10 +0
And all the next points in STR.
Anakha the Almighty Mon, 20th Jan '03, 10:07am Try this one:
Half Orc Ranger
STR 20 DEX 18 CON 18 INT 1 WIS 16 CHA 1
Rekiller Mon, 20th Jan '03, 6:42pm Very good Ranger, but he musn't talk for your party
Master of Nuhn Mon, 20th Jan '03, 10:24pm Mmmh, the real powergaming stuff. I hope this ranger will never meet a Mindflayer...
I prefer some more Roleplaying aspects. A ranger with such low Int probably won't recognize friends from foes. And with such Charisma even his beloved animal friends of the forest will spit in his face. A ranger condemned by nature, cool role! :D ;)
Faragon Mon, 20th Jan '03, 11:37pm Ah but Master, roleplaying a character with an INT score of 1 shouldn't be that hard for you
And Uytuun, I think the reason why someone would take a level of paladin on top of rangerlevels would be for the Savingthrows boost (+4) rather than the turning ability.
Rekiller Tue, 21st Jan '03, 2:02am A ranger with high int and cha has to sacrifice str, dex, and wis, the key abilities for rangers in D&D 3ed
Khazraj Tue, 21st Jan '03, 3:57am I always liked ranger/rogue. Makes rogues sneak attack better and they both seem to be prowler types...
3E evil rangers are so much better than 2E namby pamby rangers.
Chaotic evil ranger/rogue Tiefling = nasty girl/boy and lots of fun...
Rekiller Tue, 21st Jan '03, 5:40am Thats very cool  , but I make my ranger human, some lvls in rogue and 4 lvl of Fighter (for the wepon specialization).

Anakha the Almighty Wed, 22nd Jan '03, 3:06pm MoN;
I don't see the reason why my ranger wouldn't meet a mindflayer. I think he will divide that mindflayer in two.
And I do not roleplay in IWD2. I am simply a combat strategist while playing this game.
Faragon Wed, 22nd Jan '03, 9:03pm Well, the problem is, that mindflayers have this nasty habit of draining intelligence. If they suck your brains down to an INT score of zero, you're dead. Having an INT of 1 will make you a quick snack (though low on calories) for an Ithilid.
Combat Strategies aren't limited to offense, defensive strategies are just as, if not more, important to achieve victory.
Rekiller Thu, 23rd Jan '03, 12:23am How about a Ranger 1/Barbarian x/Fighter 4-Halforc
STR:20 DEX:18 CON:18 WIS:10 INT:4 CHA:4
Anakha the Almighty Thu, 23rd Jan '03, 9:48am I know they suck brain but his WIS is 16 whcih gives him +3 on will saves. I think this will make it a bit harder to suck his brain out.
BTW, barbarian's INT score can not be lower than 3; if lowered below 3, it is still considered 3. (In-game-description)
