I've tried arrows +3 and they work but minimal damage.. Tried fire/cold/electrical damage, it works, but minimal. Tried swords, good damage, but get killed real quick even potioned up. Any big spells work that do good damage? I tried all the big fire spells and only once got 30 damage, but usually 5-10. Ideas appreciated.

well to hit the guardian physically is very difficult ... i guess you can leave your archer at home for that fight. closecombat is very hard because your tankers do not hit often but get hurt all the time and run away because of dragons aura of fear.
so, stoneskin one tanker which must have +3 weapon for fight and cast remove fear on him (there are two of the 'emotion class' spells that will also work or bards melody of grunghi whateverthenameis).
now to the killing. i tell you your tanker will never have a chance for that. you need magic.
forget about fire or cold or acid damage the guardian has to high resistances for that. lightning damage will work better. if you have a druid like i had cast 'call lightning' (great damage if you have stormbringer ability). your arcane caster can use wand of lightning which i found before (or bought?).
no matter that is only for backup if primary tactic fails : try to disintegrate the dragon.
works good if you have spell penetration ability and focus for that spellclass. the dragon is imune to petrification, do not try it. i didn't have finger of death at this time but will work too.

finally some words to disintegrate : description says loot of the disintegrated will be lost but thats wrong ! no matter, the guardian does not drop anything.
try out and report back ;)

Well if you are going to go at the PnP verson of disintegra: if your target don't make its save hi's a gonner, but gis exuipment get a extra item savingthrow to survive(Or atleast it's that way in PnP 2nd edition)
