I've been playing Icewind Dale II the last few weeks and whenever I rest, the amount of time that I rested for is in the order of 21 days. However, my friend who is also playing on the same computer only rests for a max of 16 hours. Can anyone explain why the large difference in resting times?

Why not try the time-honored tradition of reinstalling the game? ;)

do you have a cleric or somebody else who can cast cure spells??If not you will regain 1hp per level each day, so it will take a lot of time to become fully healed

Yeah, I've been playing IWD2 lately as well..
I was at day 3, after the battle at the Palisade. Now I needed to rest, and wham! I'm at day 106 ;)
I don't have a cleric in my party, but I still think it shouldn't have taken so long. With all the resting I'm nearly at day 600 only on chapter 2 :)

If you have no form of healing in your party (aside from potions) then time needed to heal will be based on regeneration, which is a standard of 1 per day. So if you have 21 hp to heal, you'll sleep for 21 days.

Getting someone with divine spells will solve this.

I can't understand that you're having trouble with sleeping a lot though, I always want to stay in bed a lot longer :D

Does the in game time matter in IWD2? Are there some bonuses for completing the game fast or does it effect the plot? And so does it matter how often you go and take a nap to get full HP and spells? If it doesn't matter how long it takes 'in game' to finish, then what is the point of having a timer that counts days?

Resting depends on the amount of HP to recover and the healing potential of your casters, which is badly counted. For example laying hands isn't included and you have to rest for 8 hours for 1 HP, lay hands, rest, lay hands etc. Well, the periapt thing helps you later in the game fortunately enough.

You can shut off "rest until healed" in the IWD II configuration GUI. :coffee:

The reason for keeping track of game time should be obvious when one considers the dreaded "save game-- oops, I meant LOAD!" tragedies which have cursed many players. If you use several save game files to try different approaches, then chronology may become very important...

*Spoiler* does anyone know if game time actually goes backward in the Magma chamber?
