What's the deal with Nathaniel on level 2? My paladin say's he detect's evil from him and Nathaniel gives some lame excuse but the dialogue ends and I can do nothing about it. Is there more to this than meet's the eye?

Buy all you can from him, rest if you need to and use what ever services he has available. but don't trust "it". There is more than meets the eye with several characters.

I think high Intelligence is the key to picking apart Nathaniel's excuses: a very high Int character gets more dialogue options with him, some of which lead to a fight in which all is revealed. :)

I did get more dialogue options with higher Int characters, but none of my characters had better than a 14 Int. I couldn't get him to reveal himself until after I went back to Kuldahar for Cera Sumat. Then I spoke to the real Nathaniel, which allowed me to trigger the fight when I returned to Dragon's Eye. A nice little fight, too.

You need INT 17.
You can trigger the fight if you repeatedly use healing. The fake Nathaniel will eventually run out of Cure Light Wounds spell, then he will run out of Cure Medium Wounds, then he will say "the HELL with you - I have no more spells" :) and will attack...

I thought, what the hell are you doing here? but just put it down to a bad plot until I spoke with Nathaniel again in Kuldahur - I'll have to leave the Severed Hand and go back to Dragons Eye (did not know I could - linear game you know) and fight the mystery dude? Hang on, didn't Dragons Eye get destroyed in a volcanic eruption? Oh well back to work I go and I'll find out tonight if Dragons Eye still exists.

Killing him was great, and it was not too difficult either, but too bad you cannot recover more of his items once you kill him...
