I click create character button at the start of a new game and the game crashes, and I get the message: An assertion failed in InfGame.h at line number 652.
I have had the game for a while now, and this has never happened.
I have checked my pc for memory problems;
Checked game configs, which are all set at default right now.
I re-installed... same problem
I even went so far as to run scandisk, defrag, shutdown everything extra on the pc, ran a virus/spyware check, and I still have the problem.
I can't find any info on this error and would appreciate some pointers in the right direction.
As always.... Thanks for the help

There are some general tips there regarding assertion errors, but I don't think there's anything specific to your error unfortunately. Still, you should try doing what's suggested there.

I tried tips for the other errors listed on the faq sheet. It still seems to have the same problem. I even tried re-formatting my pc and starting all over, but I am still having the same problem...
Bad Disks maybe? It seems to be the only thing left. If that is the case that would explain why it used to work but doesn't anymore. The only thing is, I don't 'see' a scratch. Maybe I should try to replace the disks. I don't suppose that is possible with bioware out of service now is it?
Thanks folks!

No, BioWare doesn't really have anything to do with IWD. Black Isle made it, but with Interplay dead, all support and disc replacements are gone as well. You might want to try your luck on BioWare's forums though. I'm not sure if they have anything on IWD there though.

Also, if you managed to install the game fine, the discs must be ok. The problem is most likely somewhere else.

I was afraid of that, but you're right: It shouldn't be the disks. I am not sure where else to look. I will try the forums at Bioware.

Thank you for the extra brain on this mess!
