Now i am confused about this experience disadvantage some classes and races get. What is this - 50% thing and what exactly does it mean. I know this has been explained before but i am not that well endowed in the brain department so i need a full lengthy ex[lanation, step by step. please?

It's part of the integration of new races from 3rd edition rules know as D&D (no advanced no more, weeeee! :)).
Anyhow, the races are more powerful than standard races (elves, humans, halflings etc.) and therefore get an XP penalty to add up for that. There's really not much more to it than that.
In more practical terms it's a bit of calculation:
Your XP = (XP for Quests/Monsters etc.) / 2
