The easiest thing to do is use your Wilderness Survival skill to tell you which way to go in each area. Head through the upper right exit of the clearing with the ghost, then follow your tracker. He should lead you to the Dryad. Talk to her. She should give you clues on the children and on how to reach the 'heart of the forest'.

Once you deal with the children issue and get the new quest from the villagers, return to the dryad grove and head through the lower right exit. Follower your tracker again.

Continue in this vein until you have cleaned up the forest. If you don't have a tracker, its much harder.

I just dropped something on the ground on each screen in a different place so I could tell if I was in the same screen again or a new one. Then I just hit the right pattern to progress to the next section. Spent about 30 minutes of trial and error total and made it through.

One was up, right, right to get to the dryad. Another was upper right, bottom right, upper left, bottom right. Just because it looks the same doesn't mean it is the same.

Sounds like Metal Gear on the old Nintendo. Or Zork 1 when you're trying to get through one of the mazes.

(response to the question in the locked Fellwood thread)

To find the 'heart of the forest' and deal with the restless dead, you have to start exploring from the site where you get the cup. You are looking for a pond, then a river. The dryad will tell you the directions from the pool if you have any decent skills in Persuasion.

If you don't have Wilderness Lore *or* Persuasion, you can wander around lost like you deserve. Eventually, you should find it.

When you get to the fey dryad, or whatever she is, go SE, then NE (area with skeletons), then SE, NW and SE. That should get you to the drinking horn. From there you go E,NE,NW. then NW,NE,SE.
You cannot go into the 3rd maze if you didn't return the drinking horn.

Im sick of these woods too!

I'm on the bit where you have to get rid of the ghost lights. Where the hell are they!

I also got rid of that guy that wants to cup with a song, now he is not there so I cannot get rid of the drinking cup that you find in the forest. I dunno if that makes a difference or not...

The apparition of the guy you're suppose to bring the drinking horn will reappear (that's why you were looking for it, to put him to rest). Report to village elders and get back to Fellwood. I wrote on this thred how to do that. Just look up.

Ok I will try sleeping for ages to try and get him back.

I was under the impression that either the horn or the song were two different solutions to the quest. I guess if that turns out to be the case, the song method is bugged.

Explore the routes leading out from the area you found the horn, preferably using Wilderness Lore. Once you reach the lake map, you can just follow the directions the dryad gave you. If you didn't get the directions from the dryad, you can continue to use Wilderness Lore.

If you failed to develop Wilderness Lore or get the information from the Dryad, you can use the old "mark the map with junk" method and just keep exploring until you find them.

I think I'm totally hosed. Going round and round in circles. Got the horn, returned it to its owner and went back to the horn screen and still could not move on to the next level. At this point, I don't know what to do or where to go...I'm lost in the maze. :mommy:

did you get the quest to rid the woods of the ghost lights? If you don't have the actual quest, you can't go forward from there.

Well, I thought I had it...but my journal isn't showing it....it wouldn't be the one involving the "furious ghost" would it?

On the lights....I only saw one flashing light on some screen....I'm at the horn screen right now.

Im in the Fellwood forest and can get to Caranaya the Dryad. Once you leave her it takes you back to the "Carnival Tent" section to fight the sorceress with the children...done that. Now upon re-entering Fellwood i cannot get anywhere with the exception of the Dryad. I've tried to follow some of the instructions above but to no avail. Does anyone know the exact directions through the forest?

The "X" key is you absolute best friend!!!!!
Here is the exact path:
1) Start at AR5010 (where the Ghost warns you), move NorthEast, get to AR5017, move North,
get to AR5018, move East, get to AR5019, East to AR5016 - you find a healer here.
Then go SE -> AR5026 -> NE -> AR5027 ->SE -> AR5028 -> NorthWest -> AR5029 -> SE -> AR5011.
Bingo, you find a golden horn here.
2) When you need to destroy the lights, follow previous path to the AR5011, then do as follows:
SE -> AR5012 -> SE -> AR5013 -> NE -> AR5014 -> NorthWest -> AR5021 -> NW -> AR5022 -> NE -> AR5023 -> SE -> AR5030.
Bingo, you get to kill some Death Candles here.
3) To kill treants do: Start at AR5010 -> SE -> AR5015 - kill treants, the path out of the wood will open at the NE corner.

Have fun!

Vision,

Did you go back to the Wandering Village and report your success with the children? The old woman gives you more quests, which is what unlocks various additional paths through the forest.

I actually made a map of the entire forest.

There are a few unique rooms (with special encounters/items etc.) and there are 4 ranks of 4 identical rooms.

You have to pick the right exit to move onto the next identical room. I ended up trying every exit and writing down where it led. It helps to do it this way as you will have to continually go back in.

Of course, you can use Wilderness skill also.

Cheers,

Jav

Ok. I got through the Fellwood to the Death candles and Will O Wisps. What is their weakness. I can cast a cloudkill spell and it affects them, but I don't have any water spells like the rain one. Is there any other weakness. Thanks.
