I asked this question 12 months ago but still haven't solved it ... if anyone's willing to try with my saved game (if that's even possible) i will happily provide.

I'm a level 12 sorc. My party constsits of Minsc, Korgan, Viconia, Yoshi and Edwin.

Reputation = 12.

Every time i enter Waukeens Promenade i get attacked by Alhelor (a mage), Sir Jolus and others like him. I've tried about 6 times to beat them but they seem real strong. I've tried protection from Magical energy and a whole bunch of summons with defensive harmony and other protection spells.

Anyone have any sure fire ways of defeating them?

Alternatively, anyone know how to enter the Promenade at the bottom right rather than the top left where i always seem to end up?

All help appreciated.

Have you been to the Windspear hills yet?
If you have, and then you might want to go back there, and speak to Garran Windspear.

Thanks for your response Daie.

I tried that but it didn't seem to make any difference.

Alhelor and friends were still waiting in Waukeens Promenade to kill me.

I don't know if this is related, but last time I had Viconia there was somebody near the western exit who if talked to would attack, his mates would teleport in, and if I killed one the whole area would go hostile. In a lot of places people can become very angry with you or attack just for taking Viconia.

While I have never encountered those people you speak of, I do agree that the only reason I have for knights attacking you (barring a low reputation which you obviously do not have) would be failure to complete the Windspear Hills quest once it is started. There is no timeline indicating when you have to go to the Windspear Hills, but once that quest is started it probably has to be completed within a few days before this knights come around. Other than that, I have no idea what the cause may be.

I'm not sure you actually have to complete the quest. A couple of times, I have gone to Windspear Hills to get rid of the acorns, but I didn't go to Garran Windspear's house; eventually got attacked by Alhelor et al. I think the key is to talk to Garren and get him to talk to the Order of the Radiant Heart.

The way I beat Alhelor etc. was to distance myself from them, and then use my thief to backstab - hit and run tactics. This assumes that you can get the distance in the first place.

As far as entering at the bottom right, I know I have done this, but I'm not sure from which area. Just try using a "trial and error" approach.

But...when I talked to him nobody teleported in. Did you attack him when he went hostile? If so that's the reason the whole district became hostile to you. Just let the soldier do his job taking care of him. DO NOT ATTACK HIM!

You're talking about Belmin! Yeah, that guy attacks drow, and he also makes the merchants around him hostile.

Just avoid letting him see Vicky.

Thanks for all the replies.

I had completed the Windspear Hills stuff and talked to Garren etc but alas, Alhelor was still out to get me.

I classed this as a bug and took the soft option and killed them with CTRL+Y

hahahahahahahaha...yeah! That's a very good option when the game is full of these bugs. In my case (I don't think it's a bug.Maybe just one of the MODs I've installed) every night I spent inside of every district in Athkatla there was a group of Ruffians to kill. When wasn't the ruffians were vampires. Then the battles started to become strong. Very strong. The last group that appeared to me had a Shadow Druid, a Wizard Slayer, a Bounty Hunter, and more in their numbers, just two hours after I killed a group of Githyanks extremely powerful. I chose to use ctrl+y against them not because they were strong, but because I had three fights in a single night. That's very boring.

How could you lose to a stinking bunch of paladins and their crummy mage pals?

NPCs with good alignments are merely walking packages of XP and loot,

My sister had this problem
she went into the Windspere hills killed the Radiant heart guys that looked like ogres dropped off the acorns and went back to the Docks District

These radiant heart people started to attack her and she went down very, very fast.

She got one of the people down to injured and another to barely injured and half of her party was dead, two of them had less than half heath and the other was panicing (or something)

She was only level 9 or so then and had not found out the cheat codes etc.
