View Full Version : How does Paladin spellcasting level work?

They don't get spells until 6th level. So, at 6th level, are they considered a 1st level caster, or a 6th? Is caster level determined by class level directly, by class level -5, or by some division of class levels?

I'm curious about this, and I'd like to calculate how spells like Draw Upon Holy Might work out for higher level Paladins.

Paladin level = casting level.

I am pretty sure their caster level is considered half. I had a Lvl 12 Paladin and cast Draw Upon Holy Might and only got 2 to all those stats. And his Magic Circle Against Evil(I use a lot of evil Gate spells in HoF....) runs out faster then the cleric's buffs of the same duration. It's how they are set up in PnP for spells. Half Lvl at a cap of Caster Lvl 9. And not to mention, you could just test it out yourself =P Mem the spell and cast it and see how much of a boost you get ;)

Larzs, let us know what happens every few levels with that Paladin. I'd really love to know for sure how it works. :)

I kinda stopped playing(stuff in HoF takes too long to kill and hurts too much, but I'll get back to it), but I can check into it, won't take me long. I noticed that Holy Power ran out faster then other buffs that were 1 Round/Level of the party's cleric.
