 *Inserting standard there is not Best/Perfect/Ultimate party reply.*

It all depends on the conditions set by the player. For me, a party is perfect if I have fun with it. For another, when they cannot die, and kill monsters at a rate of 13/sec. Yet another would argue that in roleplaying, there is no perfect party. Yet another has certain conditions, like dwarves only, or wants certain classes to come along.

The only one who can tell you what your perfect party is, is YOU!

I'm sure you can find something that suits you here:

Ans anyway, trying out yourself always helps to cure undecisiveness.

depends on whether you want combat heavy or spell heavy or summon heavy party.

Summon heavy party is the only one that can let you survive the Heart of Fury mode with a newly made party I guess.

At least 2 Clerics, make it three if you want. At least a sorcerer for the first level summon monster.

A Paladin/Mage or Fighter/Mage

plus whatever you want. (rogue/bard?)

Durids, don't forget durids are pretty good summoners too.

Let's see...

I've got a ranger, druid, cleric, paladin, monk, wizard, and rogue. A human, elf, half-elf, drow, dwarf, and hobbit. Their stats are a little mixed. I think most have INT 32, and the rest are at 25.

Quite a few dual wielders, but I messed up on the skills and feats a little. Still good enough to play the game with, just not "optimized".

WTF? How'd you get INT at 32? 22 is more likely

Well I went through IWD with a "power party" of a pally, warrior, cleric, fighter/thief, bard, and conjurer. I was never a big fan of multiclassing anyway. Nothing like a level 12 wizard... at all.

For IWD2 I wanted to take advantage of some of the new classes.

Lord Corwin del Mar - Assimar Paladin (B.Sword)
Grok the Exiled - Half Orc Barbarian (Great Axe)
Brother Jacob - Human Monk (fists)
Tasha of Selune - Assimar Cleric (Longsword)
Tyr'Drakar - Drow Rogue (Bow, Longsword)
Tawnos - Human Bard/Sorcerer

The bard will probably stay level one. I wanted the level 1 bardsong more than I wanted a gimp wizard with a crossbow. I may dual the rogue with a wizard at some point, but for now he's fine as a rogue. The monk is fairly strong even in the beginning. By lategame he should be a real wrecking ball.

Another note... my paladin and bard both have negotiation skills. The Barbarian covers wilderness lore. Monk took stealth. My 20 int/20 dex rogue does just about anything I ask him to.

IMHO a strong well-rounded party. Three warriors, a cleric, a rogue, and a caster. The monk has more lategame potential than an archer. Light on ranged damage, but I've never been a big ranged guy anyway. Bows are nice, but the monk will do more damage. Stunning fists will do more against pesky casters than a ranger firing off arrows from the back.
