Does enyone know what use the broken sword that you get of the duergar in chapter 1 has in the game, or if it is useless ? :confused:

It's absolutely useless. It may have been a non-implemented part of the game.

I agree. I think the sword is a reminder of the iron crisis from Baldur's Gate I.
There is also a doppleganger prisoner in Irenicus's Dungeon. If you haven't played Baldur's Gate I, dopplegangers played a major role in Savevok's plot to create the war between Baldur and Amn.

the sword does nothing - I carried it until chapter six before I realised that :lol:

The whole intro to Baldurs gate is full of reverences. That drove me nearly mad, when I first played it through. Information, err Story, overload. I was very confused. Not to mention, learnig how to play.

Whenever you create a magical weapon in the game (Shillelagh, Flame Blade, Black blade of disaster), when its duration runs out it turns into a broken weapon such as the one in Irenicuses dungeon.
