Oghma, because the first ever character I finished the game with was a Lorekeeper. I found the Identify ability to be the height of convenience, saving a slot from my Sorcerer's spell book.

Lathander. With Greater Spell Focus: Evocation, Greater Spell Penetration and Spirit of Flame.

Dreadmaster of Bane. The domain spells are powerful and very in-charecter.
Morninglord of Lathander and Lorekeeper of Oghma if the alignment doesn't fit.

I generally use Cleric class as a mix-in for most other classes. In that case this is my preffered school according to main class:
Melee - Battlegaurd of Tempus (being CN also allows you to use that lovely Massive Halberd later on)
Sorcerer - Lorekeeper of Oghma
Rogue - Demarch of Mask

I have still to use a Talosian or a Watcher of Helm.

Ilmater. I will usually do 2 levels of Paladin, then the rest as a Painbearer; gives the Painbearer a couple extra BAB points, a few extra HP, and the benefit of a Paladin's save bonuses an immunity to fear.

How can Chev claim to have Lathander as favourite but the poll shows that Lathander has no votes?

 Chev lies
Surprised to see there are no Talonites here yet. An Aasimar Talonite with the Scion of Storm feat and wearing Boots of Grounding must be the Fairy Lights' nightmare
Does any of you give a thought to the extra special abilities that a Cleric gets? The Battlegaurd's +6 Strength/round (castable on anyone) is one of the better abilities imo.

Talosian, not Talonite. Talona likes diseases, not lightning.

Besides, you forgot people layering Protection from Lightning and Protection from Electricity on the Talosian priest.

Mask. I find a dex-based female drow Ranger 1/Demarche of Mask x to be a thoroughly versatile build, with scouting, spellsword, cleric and summoning abilities coming out of her dark, pointy ears. Might add a level of barb later on for the few extra HP and rage ability.

Thanks MrNexx. Do you have a link to more information on that? WotC doesn't make for easy reading.

Does it make any difference, layering both prot's? I thought spells and attacks were one or the other, not both. Still, Talosians are the only Clerics to get Prot' Electricity.

I'd go with the Dreadmaster... Make him a shield dwarf (good tank) and you got a cleric that can fight, got excellent domain spells and do the healing... What else would you need a cleric for?

No link handy, I'm afraid. I'm just a game geek who's got it memorized. ;) And I've found protections layer, provided they're from different sources... i.e. if two people cast Prot Electricity, I only get the bonus from one. But if one person casts Prot Elec, and another casts Prot Lightning, I get both.

Well I like using my Cleric for healing, so I like the Morninglord of Lathander, who came in helpful in HOF. He gets raise dead, resurrection, heal and mass heal. He doesn’t have the damage spells some of the other cleric orders get, but having an extra mass heal is always nice.

Plus I like the two freebies they get. An improved Turning Feat, which is excellent, and Lathander’s Renewal, another Healing spell similar to the Paladin Lay on Hands. Two of the better freebies for the clerics, imo.

But, if you want offensive firepower, another order is better. Oghma has the best high level spells.

I don't know...the Morninglord also gets flame strike, fire storm and meteor swarm as domain spell choices...seem like pretty good offensive spells to me.

I go for SIlverstar always, but for RP reasons. I'm liking moonmotes at the moment too.

Morninglord of Lathander.
Sometimes Battleguard of Tempus :)

For some reasons, I decided Helm is a good choice. So I voted for him. Although I cannot say I played any other order, and I just started with this one. I hope I did not make a mistake :)

Battleguard. I'm always drawn to "spellsword" type characters, and this fits right in. I usually make him a Dwarf (to fit in with the axes :) ) and he's a very capable tank. Sure, Morninglords are superb bombardiers, but I always like the melee/spellcaster hybrids, and Tempus seems to fit that best, to me.

I like Battleguards of Tempus, then again, I have yet to play this game! :D

I love tank-Clerics, and this one doesn't even have to multiclass. Heck, I'm almost considering making my Battleguard a 1/2 Orc Barb 2/Cleric. instead!

If you're going to multiclass into a 'warrior' class, it really doesn't make sense to choose Tempus. The weapon focus:axe becomes much less valuable. If I were going to play a Barb/Cleric, I'd think about Talos. Just my two cents

That's a great point, DanSkibo. In retrospect, I've definitely settled on a Dwarf Battleguard.

Thanks, but I'd like to point out that I merely cribbed it off of others. I've had a few insights into the game, but that wasn't one of them.

Half-Orc Barbarian/Battlemaster of Tempest is the way to go. What a fun character he was....

Bocca SMASH! Squish lizard! Heal ... wait SMASH!

It was like having another tank with some healing (concentration sucked -- but I had very few skill points and he never cast during combat anyway).

Ofcourse I love Silverstars! YAY! They have got unique spiffy spells like moon motes, alicorn lance, wall of moonlight etc. and elemental summonings; elementals are tough, and elemental legion is even more useful in HoF!

Selune's Freedom and MoonShield are nice enough to have, but those names...silver, moon, etc. make me want to play IWD2 again! And only to remember that my poor IWD2 CDs were used as a chewing tool by my friend's wicked cat!

Old thread worth bumping.

I now agree with chevalier, and for similar reasons... wow!

(although a Talosian comes kinda close with Lightning attacks, I like Fire and I like Good characters more). :)
