View Full Version : What soundsets would you like?
TheBlackRose Sun, 3rd Nov '02, 10:05pm Okay, I've acquired a freeware audio recorder program (Audacity) and the parameters for Icewind Dale II sound sets.
A crafty conjurer? A brutal barbarian? A grinning gopher? :) What kind of characters would you like to hear in Icewind Dale II?
edit: make 'em male, please. :)

Jesper898 Sun, 3rd Nov '02, 11:41pm A Drow ranger :) (drizzt)
Tiefling fighter
really tough Barbarian
and innocent girl ( :p )
i havent got iwd 2 yet so i dont know about the voice sets that come with the game
Faragon Mon, 4th Nov '02, 12:44am I think we've got enough male fighter voices :)
Personally, I'd like more madmen ;)
Falstaff Mon, 4th Nov '02, 2:34am How about some really cool evil soundsets - wizards and other classes, not just fighters!!
The world needs more evil soundsets, it is as simple as that!
Sorschana Mon, 4th Nov '02, 5:39am Aha! A topic I can get behind!
Seriously - I and a friend also do soundsets, and are definitely interested in knowing what people are looking for. We've asked around the BG2 discussion groups but no one there seems to be playing enough IWD2 to really be worried about it, and honestly, the selection included with the game ain't bad.
That said, you might stop by our page, have a listen, and let us know what you'd like to hear. We would both be grateful.

Thanks guys, and have fun with it.
(Incidentally, ME, I want a few more voices that aren't quite so shamelessly cliched. The female thief voices included with the game are just ear-grating.)

Khazraj Mon, 4th Nov '02, 11:50am If you want any of the evil characters from BG1 or BG2 I can make them and send it to SP. I already made a Sarevok one if you like him. He's... sort of evil...isn't he?
Cheers.
teekc Wed, 6th Nov '02, 10:11pm a totally nerd soundset perhaps?
Kenshiro Thu, 7th Nov '02, 9:05am How about voices for fighters, monks, mages, who sound like good, kindly people, but you can tell they're tough at the same time?
Belwar Thu, 7th Nov '02, 2:14pm I would like to see an irish or scottish male fighter sound set. It would be hillarious(don't know how to type it :) )
Sylvan Thu, 7th Nov '02, 9:43pm Irish and Scottish definitely sound like a good idea. How about an oriental soundset - Yoshimo is the only one I am aware of. There aren't many soundsets for Half-Orcs either.
Faerus Stoneslammer Tue, 12th Nov '02, 6:17am More elvish voices (ie. less gruff, maybe with a bit of elvish thrown in, like the drow?)
More dwarf voices (Scottish/Irish voices would probably work)
Generally, more race-specific voices, in good and evil.
Baezlebub Fri, 15th Nov '02, 10:16am are we talking ones you make yourself? because in general, t doesnt work unless you go to a recording studio. Belevie me, i have done it. There is too much background noise on justa general mike. BTW, i am currently creating a LoTR sound set. Should be ready before christmas. I go on holidays in 2 weeks, so i'll finish them off then.
Cheers.
Deathmage Fri, 15th Nov '02, 10:20am A evil mage! Hear hear!
What about a smart fighter? I'm a little tired of hearing grrs and arghs all the time...or a very polite soundset.
Harbourboy Mon, 2nd Jun '03, 2:29pm Did any of the above soundsets ever get made? I would be keen to check out any new soundsets as I have used up all the original ones now. It would be cool if someone had made some themed soundsets (like the Buffy ones). Surely someone has done a Lord of the Rings one by now......?
underthewronghat Mon, 2nd Jun '03, 9:41pm Well, the most fun I've gotten out of the sound sets have always been the TV/Movie hacks. Star Trek, Monty Python, The Tick, Buffy, and (my fav) MST3k... Anyone got a source for this sort of silliness?
Urgazhi Tue, 3rd Jun '03, 10:21am A evil mage! Hear hear! You took the words out of my head before i thought them up.
Perhaps i would have said sorcerer though.
Master of Nuhn Tue, 3rd Jun '03, 11:50pm Personally, I'd like more madmen I'm sure YOU can make some for us! But I agree. Some lunatics and madmen will do. Like the one in NWN 'You won't have me. You won't have ME!'
A mischievous, greedy thief/mage voicepack would be good, too. Or a stupid, dumb and slow character: Em.. what? heh.. okay, but er.. oh well.
Volsung Fri, 6th Jun '03, 3:48pm Definately a voice with an irish and heavy pronunciation(sp?) with lots of grammatical errors for a dwarf. Just like Korgan from BG2.
"Me axe be bloody ready." :)
Urgazhi Sat, 7th Jun '03, 12:45pm what would a cyborg sound like in ID2?
I am a cranky orc Mon, 9th Jun '03, 3:12am  What you need, is some demonic voices...
If you known what i mean, not like this :holy:
Like this  hehehhehe....
I am a cranky orc, and i am going to take a nap
Mediv Wed, 11th Jun '03, 2:46am Hmm.. perhaps a bit more subtle evil voice.. not so much evil as, cold...
ubyduby Wed, 11th Jun '03, 4:13am i want to hear a sex kitten voice, something similar to Pamela Anderson
