The hearts go in the undead you see running around when you first enter this level. The stone blocks need to be pushed in a certain order to open the door to the treasure room. I don't know the specific order but I'm pretty sure the answer has already been posted in these forums. Try searching for it. :)

There are 11 stones, 8 on the floor, 3 on the wall. Number the stones column-wise, i.e. starting from the leftmost stone (1), count top to bottom then left to right, such that the 3 stones on the wall are numbers 3, 6, 9. (Top-bottom is true vertical, not the game's North-South axis).
Click the following 6 stones in this order:
10, 3, 5, 6, 8, 9.
(Edit: That combination is wrong...
The correct one is: 10 3 5 6 9 2)

The door should then open.
(There are a few guards inside)

If you make a mistake, you can reset all the stones to their "up" state by clicking the last 11th stone on the right, then start again.

It's a pity you couldn't do the conversations in this area as there are a few xp (4800?) and info that can be gained (and god knows both xp and story enhancement is both good to have in this game). It was a fun level. If your Paladin had one level in any other class, he would have been able to wear the robes.

The hearts: They belong to the zombies trapped in the pit to the east. They're being made to suffer like that to please Seth, the Yuan-ti god. I couldn't get any xp from this puzzle, though. When I freed the zombies, they just went to pick up their hearts and died on the spot.

I didn't write everything down, so from memory:

- Talking to any yuan-ti priest reveals that the 11th stone is the reset and that a viper assassin and the cook have been going into the treasury. (don't remember if it gives xp).
- Talking to one of the viper fang assassins in the side room (with high diplomacy) reveals the first 3 stones in the combination lock and gives xp (don't talk to the instructors, you may have to kill all that mob).
- Talking to one of the yuan-ti initiate sorcerers in the other side room (with high intelligence) reveals info on the way the guardian can be released, and gives xp.
- Talking to the cook in the dining hall reveals the last 3 stones in the combination lock and gives xp.
- Talking to the half-breed in the dining room who came from Dragon's Eye via the portal to ask for the Yuan-ti's help gives info (don't remeber about xp)
- Then asking the High Priest about that half-breed leeds to trying to convince him not to send any forces against kuldahar and yields xp (and a fight).
- After being asked by a guard about a black rose and not knowing the answer, talk to a human initiate and learn the answer (don't remember about xp).
- Disabling a couple of trap rooms (by disable trap on the lever in the room) gives xp.
