RPG - a role playing game. D&D, GURPS, Rifts, Shadowrun, etc.
CRPG - a computer RPG. Balduar's Gate, Icewind Dale, Fallout, etc.
MMORPG - Massive Multiplayer Online RPG. A online RPG with many players. EverQuest, Shattered Galaxy, Ultima Online, etc.
Console - a 'non-computer' game system. Play Station, X-box, Atari, Dreamcast, etc.
Action RPG - A RPG like game what has some role playing like character development but is more focused on combat than character interaction. Diablo would be the best know of this type.

I hope that help a little.

Lol wildfire.

MUD - Multi User Dungeon (basically text based MMRPG's.) The best of which IMHO is The Discworld Mud (http://discworld.imaginary.com:5678/index.html) - free, set in the discworld, average load of about 150-200 players + possible to do almost anything in it.

D&D - Dungeons and Dragons (ok you could probably work it out from total's post above)

I can't think of anymore offhand that no-one has mentioned already.

Wildfire: yes, it is, my mistake.

Does anybody knows what did MDK meant in that MDK game?

BTW: how do you Quote?

You'll find out how to quote in the FAQ section which you have read when you registered ;).

Murder Death Kill. Charming title, isn't it? ;)

BTW: how do you Quote?

You can either just use the insert quote button - it's the button on the right of the # symnbol, or you can do it manually, which you can read about here (http://www.sorcerers.net/ubb/faq.html#HTML) .

first of all, thanks a lot people, you sure did clarify some things.

second, correct me if i'm wrong, there's no real difference with RPG and CRPG, except that RPG may include P&P (Pen & Paper???).

third, i always thought that FPS was First Person Shooting/Shooter, guess i was wrong.

lastly, correct me if i'm wrong, games under AC/DC would be all electronic games. :D

When we speak about RPGs online, we usually mean CRPGs. No one refers to D&D as "RPG" for example, everyone'll just say D&D.

And FPS does mean First Person Shooter. (But the meaning is the same as what total had said.)

No, no First Person Shooter means you must kill the first person you see! :)

At least i guessed RTS.:heh:

Nior, you are right on the money. RPG applies to all three sub-types of role-playing games; Computer role-playing games (CRPG), Pen & Paper or table top role-playing games (PnP) and Live action role-playing games (LARP).
