I have a problem. Got a new computer and tried to run BG:II and the computer restarts during the game at random intervals. Does the same exact same thing with PS:T. It continues even after installing the patches. This makes it almost impossible to play through these games because its so unprodectiable. Could happen in the first 5 minutes or 1 hour in. Who knows? All I know is I don't want the computer restarting when I haven't saved. I tired disabling EAX and it didn't solve anything.

My computer is running Windows XP Pro. I have a 1.6 P4, GeFore4 Ti 4400 with the lastest drivers, and 512 DDR RAM.

Can anyone help?

Crazy.

What detonators are you using?

I've drilled down IwD and Bg2 many times under XP; on a Dell p2-266 laptop and an AMD desktop with a Geforce2 Ultra. Rock solid, or at least, rock solid compared to 95% of all the other games out.

Could be a driver issue, or a hardware issue. Since drivers cost you more time than money, that's where I'd start if I were you. Cpu temps and Agp settings can be another factor.

The newest detonator at the Nivida site.

I don't know if its the cpu temp. I checked the pc probe and its reads 40 C.

All my non-infinity engine games run fine, so there should be some kind of known issue.

What sound card are you using?

You might also try just deleting the game folder and reinstalling. It could be a corrupted save game, which means you almost have to start over.

Its not a corrupt save as it happens when I load any of the saves. Remember, this isn't just one game. It happends on both BG:II and PST. I reinstalled PST and it still occurs.

I have onboard sound. Some C-Media wave device.

I bet you're using CMI8738/C3DX PCI chip. Get a driver here, it should solve it: http://www.cmedia.com.tw/download/e-cdl8738_w2000.htm
