Isn't the Twisted Rune hideout in the Bridge district one of the coolest-looking places in the game? :jawdrop: At least it seemed so to me - really loved the design of that place, with this eerie lightning and cool mosaic on the floor... And i want that table for my living room!!! Of course the inhabitants of that place were not so nice to me, and provided that i went in there totally unprepared (i wasn't really expecting anything too nasty). Minsc, Aerie and Imoen were killed and my PC got Confused at the end, so it was up to Keldorn and Jaheira to finish the job - they did that quite well, however, and chunks were flying... Was quite cool actually :)

It is an impressive place, isn't it? And the first time you do it, it can really catch you off guard... that lich appearing amidst you and quickly tossing out Wail of The Banshee - if you are low level expect the half of your party to bite the dust...

It's most definetly worth it for the Staff Of The Magi. That staff makes your whole strategies different.

If you can gang up on Shandalar(spl?), the lich, you can make it out of their alright. Keldorn's Dispel Magic always helps. Protection from undead will also help since to of them are undead; a lich and a vampire.

I never try this without IMoD to kill Shangalar instantly, otherwise it can get so painful... :(

I am really not good in strategies :) The only two in my arsenal are "pound enemy into dust" and "run away to heal and come back to strategy 1". Although, even i can see the value of staff of the magi - looks like a great acquisition (and i felt like i earned it as well after killing the twisted rune bastards). Aerie is very happy to carry it around and she says it's "to die for", which for her has very literal meaning. :D

Shangalar is the main problem, along with a female mage in the back of the room (forgot her name) - they both cast Time Stop and lots of other nasty spells. The elder orb can be dangerous, depending on if you're prepared for it or not - i was lucky to have Keldorn in his beholder-protection gear very near, so this beholder went down first. The rest of twisted rune agents in there are nothing more than a nuisance. Yeah, i really liked this fight...
