View Full Version : Farewell, and thanks for all the fish...
Darien Noella Sun, 13th May '01, 3:47pm Britain's Douglas Adams, the cult author who wrote "The Hitch Hiker's Guide to the Galaxy", has died suddenly at the age of 49.

Extremist Sun, 13th May '01, 4:00pm Oh, damn!
How come good people die early and evil bastards get over 100? Yeah, the god doesn't won't those evil ones, and the devil also doesn't want 'em because they are worse than he. This anti-logic sentence is my tribute to Douglas.
Cerryl Sun, 13th May '01, 4:09pm I'm sure that we'll all miss Douglas Adams, but his legacy will live one. As the guide says "Don't Panic!"
As side note, don't try the Douglas Adams' method of flying. You'll just hurt yourself if you do. :D
Dudette Sun, 13th May '01, 6:45pm how hurt?

Grovflab Sun, 13th May '01, 7:23pm Sad. :(
Ironbeard Sun, 13th May '01, 9:26pm Yep. Sad. :( I think the first comic SF book I read must have been The Hitchiker's Guide to the Galaxy. :(
The Fat Egg Sun, 13th May '01, 10:00pm *CRYING WITH SCREAMING* [Edit] Douglas, we'll all miss you.

Arkados Blackmire Mon, 14th May '01, 1:50am NOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!
I LOVED HIM!!!!!!
WAAAAAAHHHHHH!!!!!!!!
FenixStrife Mon, 14th May '01, 2:36am That is very sad. He wrote some of the greatest books ever written. It is too bad that there will be no new books by him. Douglas, you will be missed.

Cerryl Mon, 14th May '01, 3:23am Dudette: In reply to your question it depends on what height you decide to try and fly from. If you recall, the method of flying in the books is to throw yourself at the ground and then miss.
BogiTheWaverer Mon, 14th May '01, 7:15am Hats off to his last farewell!
I hope he finally found his personal 42.
Mathetais Mon, 14th May '01, 4:05pm Now he knows the real answer to the ULTIMATE QUESTION - and the ULTIMATE QUESTION that helps the answer make sense.
Do you think his heaven has a huge statue of him drinking tea (with shoe-less birds roosting in his ears!?!)
The Fat Egg Fri, 18th May '01, 8:44am Goodbye Douglas, i barely knew ye, although we met once. I hope the life you found is to your liking and whatever you choose to do now, remember you can do anything in time. I hope the world beyond has proven to be as hoped and as we all longed and thought it would be, and i hope you found the answer which you were searching for... Kudos.
So long, and thanks for all the fish...
