Has anyone here tried to get a book published? I write a lot of poetry, plus I draw. I thought it would be really cool to publish a book that featured both my drawings and my poems. But, I wouldn't even know how to go about getting someone to publish something.

Any ideas?

I have a friend that's been published...I'll check with him for you. He has two books listed on Amazon.com

Sorry my only experience is with serious academic/business book publishing, which I don't think will help much in this case. However, there are a few web sites out there that have some handy hints. Try this one to get started:

Thanks Bel, that would be greatly appreciated.

And I will go check out that website Slappy.

Hey Bel,
Do you know how much it cost your friend to get a book published?

Thanks BTA, I am looking for something a little closer to home here in Ohio, but if I had too send it out, that will at least get me a start.

My publishing experince/knowledge is largely academic, but I think you can send out "queries" to publishers and see if there is interest. Beyond that, I think it would be interesting to make your own books. I've seen, funny I know, books about doing that. It looks cool. Good luck to you though.
