Okay, I'll say this right up. I NEED YOUR HELP! We just finished reading A Midsummer Night's Dream, bu Shakespeare, and next week I have to do a 20 seminar about two character foils from the story. We (my group) have chosen Puck and Oberon, and can't find much good information. Any help is welcome and needed.

Puck and Oberon are am interesting choice for foils. Oberon, IMHO, is the serious, powerful, dignified aspect of Faerie. Puck is the giddy, silly, wild side of Faerie. You could spend a few minutes contrasting the way they talk to establish the abovementioned thesis. You could also look at the fact that Oberon's plans are usually for good, while Puck is either mildly malicious or incompetant (IIRC, he accidently administers the love potion to the wrong people, which generates much of the hilarity in the story.) Oberon comes along and it is his intelligence and mercy that carries the day -- he instructs Puck to set everything right -- he could have just let the humans get hosed! Puck would have done just that, and got a kick out of it to boot! Hope that helps. I haven't done MND for ages!
