Taluntain Sun, 10th Aug '03, 2:40pm I've read all of them but the last 3. If you make a search in this forum you'll see similar topics about Pratchett have been made in the past. As I said back then, Pyramids stuck in my memory as one of the best. Possibly because it was one of the first I read, but I enjoyed it a lot. The final scenes in Sourcery also had me laughing so hard I thought I'd cough my throat out... BONSAI!!! (You'll get it once you read the book.) Anyway, it's impossible to pick a favourite Discworld book for me. There are so many really good ones. Daie d'Malkin Sun, 10th Aug '03, 6:33pm They;re all good, especially the death ones, and the Sweeper ones. And Rincewind's ones. I like the Wizzard stuff. Baezlebub Mon, 11th Aug '03, 9:15am Death and the Librarian are by far the best characters. Anyway, I loved Small Gods and the new one, Theif of Time. Crackers. Mort and Reaperman were good as well. Taluntain Mon, 11th Aug '03, 1:15pm There are three more books after Thief of Time out already. :p Check http://www.sorcerers.net/Books/index_pratchett.htm BigStick Mon, 11th Aug '03, 1:39pm I read Small Gods several years ago and thought it was hilarious. Unfortunately, I was reading it during jury duty. The people with me in the waiting room must have thought I was nuts, laughing out loud like that. :D Arabwel Sat, 23rd Aug '03, 3:53pm I love Pratchett :D My favourite characters are Vetinari and Sam Vimes, though. (And for a reason....) but I just love Death and the Librarian as well. Is there anyone in existence who doesn't like them? LKD Sun, 24th Aug '03, 4:32am I've adored Pratchett since I was about 12. My favorite is Wyrd Sisters -- it's an enrichment book for students studying "Macbeth". As for your question, Arabwel, it was hard for me to understand much of "The Color of Magic" when I was young because I didn't have the grounding / reading experience necessary to understand the allusions. So, people without such grounding in Fantasy and literature as a whole tend to think Pratchett is just weird instead of the comic genius he really is. Arabwel Sun, 24th Aug '03, 6:41pm I was actually refering to the Librarian and Death spesifically, but I know what you mean. Heck, my old English teacher didn't like them and he moast definitely knew the gags. And he himself was weird as hell. *gets a nostalgic moment of a lost crush* Morgoth Sun, 24th Aug '03, 6:47pm I have now only read the Light Fantastic and the Colour of Magic, but I will get the rest as well |
