I'm thinking of picking this up on the way to the train today, but have read very few Drizzit books. Anything I need to know before reading it?

Not really... It's a beginning of a new trilogy, so it's safe to start with. Though considering there are over a dozen books previous to it you might want to pick up those first, but if you're not that interested in everything else, you might as well not.
