I have to write a 3/4 pages essay on three of the following books by the end of November (so they shouldn't be *too* complex and not too long. We've got tons of other work ;) ). Which ones would you recommend?

The Importance of Being Earnest by Wilde

Dracula by stoker

The Woman Who Walked into Doors by Doyle

The Butcher Boy by McCabe

Reading in the Dark by Deane

Eclipse by Banville.

Oscar Wilde - The guy is just brilliant. The work you are considering is a satire on "Victorian values" - as is a lot of his stuff.

Dont' forget:

Gulliver's Travels by Jonathan Swift

Anything by Lady Gregory and W.B Yeates if you like Irish mythology

I actually think 'Lair of the White Worm' by Stoker is much better than Dracula, and as Chados said Oscar Wilde is simply fantastic. I remember reading how he went to visit the US and when asked if he had anything to declare, he said his brilliance! He was such a flamboyant character.

Well, I had to decide yesterday and I went for Dracula, The Butcher Boy and Reading in the Dark. Everyone else went for Wilde, so I decided against it. Even though the other books are more work.

Looks like I'm giving in to my dark side there. :shake:

But thanks for your input anyway. :)
