I read somewhere (in the IWD manual IIRC) that when you dual-class, that you can't use the abillities of the former class, until you reached that level with your new class.

e.g. When you dual-class a thief into a mage at level 8, you can't use your thieving skills until your a level 8 mage?

Is this true???

Almost true. You must reach level 9 mage in your example (one level higher than your first class) before the skills of your first class kick back in.
