View Full Version : How many will download the beta?
Taluntain Fri, 3rd May '02, 8:46pm I started this forum because I want to keep the game and toolset separate. Now that it's been announced that the beta of the toolset will be downloadable (300MB though), I'm wondering how many of you will download it and play with it. ;)
Extremist Fri, 3rd May '02, 8:50pm Dradeel's Recipe #752
- 56k dial-up
- NWN preachers
- d&d rules
- no party
- Dave Gaider
- 300Mb?!?!?!
You slice & dice those, mix them up, cook on a dragon's breath and you get the answer:
NO DOWNLOAD!
Gnolyn Lochbreaker Sat, 4th May '02, 12:13am I'm interested to see what it looks like - and how it all works (especially the scripting language). But 300 MB!! Yikes  Not sure if I'm that dedicated...although, maybe I'll leave it downloading while I'm at work...;)
Slayer of Bhaal Sat, 4th May '02, 1:11am I'll download it cause I have High Speed internet.
Vormaerin Sat, 4th May '02, 3:59am I'll certainly be loading it up and seeing how 'user friendly' it really is. Broadband has its benefits. :)
DragonRider SkyWard Sat, 4th May '02, 4:30am Yes! WooHoo!
/DRSW very very very very happy!
Yep I'll be downloading it 100% sure of that. Just tell tell me when it comes out and where to download it! :D
Bateluer Sat, 4th May '02, 6:26am I want to play with it, but I want the modules created with it to work in NWN. :)
Wildfire Sat, 4th May '02, 12:01pm Bateluer, didn't they say that they would try to create a converter that would make the modules created with the beta to work with the full game?
Anyway, I might download it, but I'm not sure how much time I'd have to play with it. They better include some tutorials with it :).
Zorac Sat, 4th May '02, 4:03pm 300MB doesn't sound too bad. I will almost certainly download to see what can be done with it. After all I downloaded NWN video (http://vnfiles.ign.com/nwn/movies/NWNGameMeca.mpg) from GameMeca's visit to Bioware which weighed in at about 200MB ;)
Erran Sun, 5th May '02, 10:46am Absolutely! Gotta get working on Phlan!
Turambar Sun, 5th May '02, 12:12pm I'll download it for sure. My only concern is that they will only put it on fileplanet so I'll have to stand in line for a day or two......
Taluntain Sun, 5th May '02, 12:55pm You can be sure it'll only be on FilePlanet. Only site that can afford downloads that big. Unfortunately.
Mollusken Sun, 5th May '02, 6:38pm I will not download it myself, but friends with ADSL are always useful ;).
Headbanger Mon, 6th May '02, 1:20pm However I might be too lazy too make my own game, I still suppose I'll practise a bit with the toolset... 300 MB... that's just 2 hours of sleep to get that :)
Turambar Mon, 6th May '02, 2:14pm Suppose I'll have to spring for an account on the personal server thing on fileplanet then....
Is there a release date or something on this thing?
Taluntain Mon, 6th May '02, 8:05pm Any day now. We'll post on the front page when it's released, of course.
Sapiryl Mon, 6th May '02, 8:39pm I'm on a T3 here at school, so I can download it in about...oh...an hour.
Magnus Magicus Tue, 7th May '02, 1:44pm Luckily I have ADSL, but even with a 56k modem I'd try to down it. Not from fileplanet of course :).
But once people got it, it will be accessible from other sources as well.
I'll just peep in line at fileplanet and wait patiently.
For really, really desperate people I'll even burn it on cd for ya and send it to ya.
Turambar Tue, 7th May '02, 8:40pm I guess I'll just share it on Kazaa or put it on FTP server and post the link here or something.
Neon_Strike Thu, 9th May '02, 7:14am I recently downloaded the NWN Model Viewer, unfortunately I can't use the Viewer because you must have a 32-bit resolution to use it, well mine is only 24-bit, does anyone possibly know where and how I can upgrade my res. so that I can use it?
Taluntain Thu, 9th May '02, 11:01pm Right click on the wallpaper (where you have the icons on the windows desktop). Choose Properties. Go to the Settings tab. In Colors, switch to 32-bit. ;)
Magnus Magicus Fri, 10th May '02, 1:41am And if you don't have that option, your videocard probably ain't good enough to play NWN anyway....
EDIT: I should make less typo's...:(

Nazgul Wed, 15th May '02, 12:55pm Hehe. I'll download it at work, and burn it to a CD-R. Since work has a T1 Line. but home is just a 56k dial up.
8people Wed, 15th May '02, 10:39pm I'll get my friend to burn it on a CD then probably pass it around school
DragonRider SkyWard Thu, 16th May '02, 11:40pm Now that I read that your going to have to sign up for it. I'm not going to. I'll just wait for the whole thing.
It's all coming together right? The tool set and game all in one pakage?
Taluntain Thu, 16th May '02, 11:49pm Yes.
Zorac Sat, 18th May '02, 2:13am YYEESSS, I downloaded it;)
kevlar0101 Wed, 5th Jun '02, 9:21am I downloaded it, didnt work though
Buddas Hand Fri, 14th Jun '02, 11:49am I will but first I would like to know what you can actually do with it? ( I know this sounds dumn as I have been away from the forums for the last 2 weeks)
Taluntain Fri, 14th Jun '02, 1:40pm Well you can use it as a preview of what the final version that ships with the game is able to do. Nothing you create in this beta will work in the final game though.
Neon_Strike Tue, 2nd Jul '02, 8:25am There is all this crap all over SP about getting the Aurora Toolset Beta with the shipped NWN, um i'm seriously hoping not. Can anyone tell me whether this gibberish be clap trap of truth
Taluntain Tue, 2nd Jul '02, 10:23am Uh no, you got it wrong. You could download the beta of the toolset before the game was released. (You still can.)
The game ships with the final version of the toolset, of course.
