View Full Version : NWN Toolset Beta Released
Wildfire Sat, 18th May '02, 8:44am That's right, you can download it here. (http://www.fileplanet.com/index.asp?file=88066)
Shame it's on fileplanet though :(
[Edit]
*sigh* 56 minutes until I can even start downloading. :(

Headbanger Sat, 18th May '02, 12:26pm LOL... took me 1 hour and 10 minuts to get it... However I get it also on cd monday, so I can put it on my own pc (without internet), then I have some time to take a better look at it.
Wildfire... get real internet :)
Uytuun Sat, 18th May '02, 2:04pm another 74 minutes to go...hope it's worth it
Ragusa Sat, 18th May '02, 2:24pm Courtesy of Marnix, a better link: (at least it worked instantly for me) :)

Erran Sat, 18th May '02, 2:36pm OMG! It's worth it! If this is only 15% I can't wait for the other 85%
Ragusa Sat, 18th May '02, 5:16pm true, nice thing though I don't really understand how it works :D Anyway, that didn't prevent me from creating the formidable club of whacking: -4 on int, +2 on attack and knowckdown feat ... perfect for a halforc rogue ... :1eye:
Wildfire Sat, 18th May '02, 6:30pm Marnix: I do have proper internet (ADSL), but that time was the time I had to queue on fileplanet to be able to start downloading the toolset :).
Uytuun Sat, 18th May '02, 9:03pm Aaaaaaargh, you won't believe it, I waited for 3 hours to get to download it, then another hour to actually download it (fileplanet) and now it says " cannot install, parameter incorrect" :flaming: :flaming:
Vormaerin Sat, 18th May '02, 10:01pm There are a lot of mirror sites out there, btw. I didn't bother with fileplanet.
The toolset does look pretty good. I think once you spend some time playing around with it, it will be pretty easy to design modules.
DragonRider SkyWard Sun, 19th May '02, 6:27am Rugusa, thanks for the better link. Though waiting 17 hours is a little long for me but I'm downloading it any ways. Might as well see if I can get it all downloaded before every one wakes up in the morning.
EDIT: Forget it! 27 hours to download my ass. I'll just wait for the game.
/DRSW gets evil look on face and the room grows dark.

Slayer of Bhaal Sun, 19th May '02, 4:40pm Just started downloading it! only 45 minutes to go!
Extremist Sun, 19th May '02, 5:42pm Well, fun is over. If you hadn't read the original contents of this post, don't worry. It was just my questioning of a certain thing all games with toolset have, but... well...
When all fuss with it is over, perhaps I'll repost it in Whatnots forum. Until then...

Headbanger Tue, 21st May '02, 9:37am Isn't it ironic.... so much download problems.... and I already have it (took me 70 minuts) but I didn't take a look at it yet... the weather was too good this weekend :) I get it also on cd tonight so I can install it on my own computer too....
But I was wondering what the first impressions of the people here are. Is the program simple to use, how do things look, etc.
DragonRider SkyWard Tue, 21st May '02, 12:42pm :aaa: ARGGG! After a whole night of downloading the tool set I lost the connection! I am truely pissed.
Gnolyn Lochbreaker Tue, 21st May '02, 1:48pm Successfully downloaded the toolset (thanks for the 'no-wait' download link :D ). Looks pretty good. And so far, it's really easy to start using. The only frustrating part so far is learning what the production version will do, but the beta can't ;) Pretty versatile, everything from the appearance of NPCs and placement of tiles to dialogue creation, scripting and item creation.
For those who are having problems with downloads being cut off, you might want to look into a download utility that supports 'resuming' the download after it's been interupted (I think Gozilla is the name of one).
Headbanger Tue, 21st May '02, 2:07pm Yep, I suppose that now you can get the file by Morpheus, Kazaa or Gozilla....
Crawl Sun, 26th May '02, 6:37pm Well finally! No, I'm not refering to my return to these message boards. No... I am refering to my trials getting the toolset. But then, it did *only* take three failed download attempts to get my hands on it.
BTW, for all you dial up users, try searching the nwn tooset forum for a link that breaks the download up into 13 smaller 1 hour download files. It's on this page, and it's how I finally managed to dl a full and working copy of it. http://nwn.bioware.com/forums/viewtopic.html?topic=31269&forum=37&sp=15
Anyway, first impressions: it seems to be very easy and intuative to use. I was very impressed by the multitude of configerable options in the game, from properties to scripts to environmental effects. It seems to be a total well thought out package. Well done on that front. The monsters that were available for the most part were also very impressive to look at. Without reading a bit of documentation, I was able to create a tiny dungeon room with a Balor, two fire elementals, a couple demon knights, and a couple of hellhounds guarding an everburning chest with the Axe of the Damned in it. Nifty :D Specially the red shaft of light that I had coming from the floor right up into the Balor's face. It's easy to see the little extras here are going to make module building so much more enjoyable and diverse. All in all, I'm very pleased with what I've seen, and I'm definately itching to get my hands on some sort of final product, even if I never complete a whole module.
Now...to figure out what all these fancy options are on the old Boards that have been added since the last time I posted. Lets see *presses buttons*....
DragonRider SkyWard Fri, 31st May '02, 12:00am Never mind. The sites back up.
