What does the ability Keen do? I've never found out.

You have greater chance of scoring a critical hit i think.

It doubles the critical range. If a weapon scored a critical hit on a 19 and a 20, then it would double the range to 17, 18, 19, 20

Actually, if increases it by one. So if you have Crit. 19-20 it becomes 18-20, and so on...

Ok. So if I'm wielding a Greatsword (19-20) with the Keen ability, and I have Improved Critical, that would turn into 16-17-18-19-20?

The 'keen' property doubles the critical hit range, just as Astin X said. If the weapon's normal critical range is 19-20, the range with keen becomes 17-20 (the 2 becomes a 4). If it were only a 20, then the range becomes 19-20.

Gladiator: The keen property will increase the critical range from 19-20 (2) to 17-20 (4). The Improved Critical will further increase it to 13-20 (8). Both the keen property and the Improved Critical double the range, cumulative with each other. Yes, it becomes an extremely powerful feature.

Gnolyn: Is that a NWN thing? Because in 3e rules double twice results in a triple of the threat range. In this example it would mean 15-20.

Whoops. You're right Zorac - my mistake. I doubled the wrong number. It is supposed to work the same in NWN, and I think it does based on my character, but can't remember exactly at the moment (it's been a while since I played). Hope I haven't added even more to the confusion now...

yep you cant get it below 14-20 with a base 18-20 range. IIRC i got it there.
