Anyone know of any Tolkien based modules out there, I have looked for myself, but can't seem to find anyone...
Would be really cool to have some of the stories from Silmarillon or Unfinished Tales to play

Nope... The Tolkien Estate lawyers would probably threaten to sue anyone who just mentioned Tolkien in their module.

What, seriously.....?
I thought they couldn't do that as long as you wasn't making any money off it.
It's just ridicolous that a story that so many people love should be controlled by a bunch of lawyers. I wonder what J.R.R. Tolkien himself would feel about that, I think he would find the whole thing funny....

There are almost certainly more out there, just didn't see any with a cursory glance.

Compared to the number of modules (1200+), there are practically no Tolkien-based ones out there. And you can bet Tolkien would protect his intellectual property from abuse (which I'd say using it in lame NWN modules definitely is). I don't know if you realized it, but once artists found out their images are being cropped and used as portraits for IE games, practically all of them threatened to sue the webmasters of those sites unless they take the portraits down. And I mean DOWN, not just give credit to the artist - delete completely. Only a handful of artists gave their blessing for the portraits to remain online, with credit to them and links to their websites.

I tried one of those modules(Reclaiming Moria) and it was really good actually....
Hmmm I never realized that people was so touchy about people using their stuff for fun and not for profit. I can understand it in one way, but I still think it is ridicolous to sue people for getting inspired by their work.

I think the Tolkien people are maybe more sensitive to this now than they would have been before the movies came out.
There are now games based on the movies and books and if you made your own NWN modules that would possibly cut into thier profits.
There were at least a few LOTR albums (Blind Guardian and Glass Hammer) before the movies, and since they're still selling, I guess no one has complained. But Rhapsody wanted to do a LOTR album and couldn't because of copyright issues.
PS. Feel free to use my portait in any IE game :D I have some photos of me taken during Christmas years ago if you need source.

I took a look at that Moria module myself and wasn't impressed. Moria is a big place and that wasn't what I felt when I took a look at the thing.
What I'd like to see is more modules having to do with the Elder Days, and others based on when Sauron ruled Middle-Earth during the second age of Middle-Earth (for those of you that have only seen the movie you probably don't have any clue what I'm talking about, but go read the books and learn.) Anyway, there is a huge world to work with during the Elder Days, none of it is locked in to atightly controlled story like the tale of Frodo and the Ring. Yes there were important events, but they were so far apart that inserting another story or something wouldn't hurt the world any. Besides, the world at the time was a much darker place then during the story of LoTR. Morgoth was ruler than and Sauron was merely a servant to the true "Dark Lord."
