Hi guys! I just created my first mod Grey Wood.
Tried to include as many features as possible.
The story is not fabulous but it's original. (really!)

If you have the time, download and play it.
Please email me if you have any suggestions at
lawkzm@singnet.com.sg

Thanks!

I just downloaded it and will play it in a few mins for a little while. I'll get back to you. ;)

EDIT: Ok just played for 20 mins, gotta say I was having fun. :) Did both quests in the startig area. Why oh why did i have to kill the deer. :wail: ;) . And I then i got the bandit quest. So i set off through that valley of thousands dead, got right up to the end, killed the zombie warrior by the bridge and killed the bandit trio, but then alas, i met my match. I cannot beat that beserker troll for my gnome wizard is only level 7. :) Anyways, great for a first mod. Loved the funny NPCs in the tavern. I cracked up when that women said "no homos in this mod" to me. Oh and that weird creature thing that advertised your e-mail. :D Hope you make more.

Played it for about 45 minutes.
I have a level 3 ranger that I've been playing. I took her into the "newbie area" to the west & got a quest to kill the beetles in the guys house. Died & reloaded 5 times. This is waaaaay too hard for newbies. I went into the forest area, slowly killed a few badgers and wolves (you need to set the respawn rate higher), leveled up, and found a longsword +1. Went back to the house and died again.

Came back with my level 6 dwarf paladin. I managed to kill all the beetles after a few reloads, bless, barkskin and about 8 healing potions.

Went back to the start, and went to the tavern. I was attacked by bandits outside, but killed them easily. Inside, someone refused to talked to me, something about "homos in this mod". I found a portal which didn't do anything. The shopkeeper gave me 2 quests.

Went to the fishermans house (level 7 by now), and got another quest to wake his brother. I wasn't sure if this is the guy the barkeep wanted me to collect the debt from, since no conversational options came up about it. Went into his well (holding my breath for a really long time), and encountered an ADULT WHITE DRAGON! Of course poor level 7 Bullworth got creamed. Reloaded and encountered some greater elementals. Even with barkskin and bless, Bull was no match for the elementals and died again.
I gave up at this point.

I would not recommend this mod for characters under level 10. I tried to take a higher level char in, but hit item restrictions (she had equipped items higher than her level in a previous mod), and could not do it.

You're right it is very hard for newbie characters. I didn't have anything higher than lvl 7 saved. That, beserker trol was insanely hard, it did 9 damge on every turn and it never misses. The description says 6-10 for soloing, but i'd say 10 at the least. Still a very good first module i'm sure you'll agree.

I went back with a level 12 Bullworth and played a little more.
All in all, not a bad first effort, you just need to make the newbie area a little easier (take out the Beetle Queen and some of the bombardiers), maybe add some more to the forest area, and polish the dialouge a little bit.

Geez...really got to thank all you guys who spend your precious time with my mod.

I can see that most of the comments were about the mod being too hard. I've to agree that the beetle queen is a bit too hard. That's why I added the Tree of Life there to heal you.

As for the portal, it's purpose is to teleport you to your party leader in terms of multiplayers. So in SP, it's useless.

Speaking of multiplayer, I've been testing my mod all this while with 3 or more friends, so I may have misjudged the required level for soloplay...my fault.

To Z-Layrex and all animal lover out there, I'm sorry you have to kill the deer, but I'm just trying to influence the player's roleplaying instinct to make the morally correct choice in the game. You DON'T have to kill the deer. Pickpocket it. If you can't, then give up the quest. I said in the bulletin, you can't possibly right every wrong in your way. Gotta stick to your principles and alighment.

AND there's always the alternative of running, weaseling your way through impossible enemies instead of leaving a path of destruction behind you. Knowing when to give up is important. I stealth my way through many monsters I know I can't win. Hit and run, backstab etc.Strategy perhaps.

Ha ha I know all this craps sound like excuses for not having a really well-planned mod. In truth, they are EXCUSES! Well I didn't have any plans or so. I just developed the mod as ideas come to me. Hopefully my next mod will be better planned.

Once again. Thanks.

Ah I like that. The only idea that came into my head during that quest was to blow it away with a fireball. Guess it touched my evil side.
