Well, as a newsposter, I get to read about many of them, but as you might guess (and not only because of being a newsposter), I don't really have enough time to try here and there until I like something. I'd rather use a recommendation and since you people are bound to have tried at least a couple, you might be able to help me make my mind. :)

- I don't mind if it's application-based. I do mind if I can't connect whenever I feel like playing some.

- I don't mind if it's roleplaying. I just mind if they're being really anal about it and it looks silly. It also bothers me if they have some silly rules made up on an arbitrary basis (particular definitions of alignments, class roles etc, different from standard).

- I'd rather they used proper English in everything, including conversations with DMs if necessary. And if they have to use archaic English, they'd better use the correct forms. I don't like random usage without regard to correctness (stuff like "I hath", "you hast" etc).

- Hopefully no lag

- No idiotic PvP of the kind that high-level characters waiting at respawn points and the like

- Sensible DMs

- Reasonably interesting play

- Either NWN1 or NWN2

- The bigger the better. Especially if I can interact with a lot of NPCs too and sell items, get quests, own a house, compete in tournaments, collect bounties, this kind of stuff

- Imperative: no prohibition against solo play. Some servers dislike soloers. I don't dislike parties, but I want to be free to solo. For many reasons. ;)

So, what would you recommend? ;)

Need I recommend A Land Far Away (http://www.ALandFarAway.org)? We've currently got a few NWN2 servers entering Beta testing stages, with three or so NWN1 servers still running strong.

If you're looking for a good NWN2 server, Shadows of the South (http://www.ShadowsoftheSouth.net) would be my recommendation. Most of the core members of the team are euros, so it shoud match up nicely with you and you'll certainly get high quality RPing there. They're aiming to recreate the Lands of Intrigue and the Shining South, starting with the war torn Amn.

I've got to second ALFA - I loved the NWN1 version, and I am excited about the NWN2 servers going live. I don't have much time to play nowadays, but I may stop in occasionally.

I've checked out some but still haven't made up my mind. I basically need to be sure I can solo if I want to, I don't have to wait for a party or DM to play, am not restricted in playing hours, don't have to be present at a fixed time every week etc. ;)
