Not being able to view the results of a poll without voting is annoying. Sometimes I don't feel qualified to vote but that doesn't mean that I'm not interested in viewing the results.
Is it possible to change this or is there a reason strong enough not to allow viewing the results unless you have voted?

I feel that viewing results before taking the poll can and may influence your vote. That is not cool. It ruins the point of voting.
I never allow myself to see results on any poll before I vote. It ruins it for me.
What we need is people to be more clear in what they are asking before they ask it. That way you can tell if it applies to you or not.

I realize that is the argument for not showing the poll results, but I don't think it is a strong enough argument. Being excluded from the information which the poll results give may even force people into voting anything just to see the results.

Problem arrives here, when it is you who posted the poll, and you have to vote in order to see the results. Which kind of defeats asking other people to vote doesn't it?

Well, there's the alternative of making an option "Won't vote but just want to see the poll results." Which would enable everyone to vote for nothing in particular and still be able to see the results that way. But I agree that it's annoying, not even mods and admins can see the results without voting! I've complained about this already... We'll see if it gets changed in the next version of UBB, about to come soon.
P.S. People who don't check their PMs annoy me. Earl Grey, check yours.

I go with Big B.
I don't want to see the results of a poll where influenced people have voted. If someone is able to see the results before (s)he is voting, the results will become less reliable.
I admit it is annoying sometimes, but I prefer a reliable result, rather then seeing the results of this poll and not being 'sure' if it's all true.
On the other hand: People who want to see the results might vote something, just to see the results, and thus make the poll less reliable, too.
IMO, it's good this way.
Mmmh, seems like Tal finished his post when I started mine.
Well, Taluntain, if that could be done, That would be better. But make sure that the people who only want to see results, will not be able to vote in the same poll... Okay?

Presumably one way to get around that would be to have a "no opinion" option on any poll. That way you could select that and see the results, without actually having voted for anything.

That's what I said, yes. And you can only vote in any poll once, so if you voted for "no opinion", that'd be it.
