Does anyone know who the alleged Member #1 is, because I know mem. #2 is Tal (from the printer-friendly version of a thread)... :hmm:

My understanding is that there is no member #1. The process of installing and configuring automatically uses one member ID and is never used again.

I asked this same question before, just not (I think) as a new thread. If only I could remember where... Anyway, if I remember what the answer was correctly, it was one founding member, and Tal was the other.

Edit: Wow! I must have been writing that message at the EXACT same time BTA was. Mine was one minute (probably :59 and :00) after his. Sorry. Ignore mine. Now I remember.

I've always thought it worked a little like Unix.

There's one root account. And you don't want anyone hacking that one. #1.

So, you make a secondary account. Root can still override this account, but *it* cannot remove root. And you use some 30 character password on it, and no more than 2 login attempts per 24 hours. Needless to say, you slowly type that password in if you ever had to use it.

Then, you administer with user #2. If you absolutely had to fall back to the artillery, it's there and it's ready to go.

Big Daddy Root.

BTA is right, everything else is wrong. In the olden days when we started using this board, the early version still required the #1 member to be removed after the install process is done. I don't think it does any more, but it isn't really relevant. The member numbers have no effect on anything.

So, for the records, the first member is me, and #1 as such does not exist.

So who is #3, who would be the first person you recruited?

You can find these things out by viewing a profile, and then changing the number at the end of the URL. By the way, member #3 is someone named Jazzy, who made only nine posts.

Who does number one work for! Who does number one work for!

Or is it number two. Damn My Austin Powers is rusty. :1eye:

Somebody email jazzy and tell him/her to come back. :p

Congradulations for Voltric being member #60 and still being around. Let's give it up for Voltric. Somebody go fish him out of the DnD forum and get the new celebrity over here. :p

Man! Talking of the earliest members makes me feel really young in comparison!

You mean you dethroned Kitiara, Wildfire, and who knows who else?

I'm out of the chat for awhile and everyone gets delusions of grandeur. :p

Once a number is used, even if subsequently the user is deleted, the spot remains empty. Same thing with topics. It doesn't "shift back" if there's an empty space.

Personally, I'd rather be Number Six.

Be seeing you!

In that vein, it sort of makes sense that there's no Number One. "I am not a number! I am a free man!"
