View Full Version : Bye: Holland! We're coming!
Volsung Fri, 16th Jul '04, 5:23pm I'm going to a Scout camp next Friday (23/7) in Holland. I'll be there for there 19 days.
We're group of about 55 Scouts from Greece. We will go to Holland for the National Jamboree that takes place there, in Boxtel.
As for the very immediate future, I'll be in a 2-days trip. I'll be back in Sunday. During the four days left between the trip and the camp, I will have access to computer only once or twice. That's why I post this thread now and not later.
I'll not say goodbye now. I save it for another time.

Apeman Fri, 16th Jul '04, 8:55pm Hey boxtel, that's a 20 minute drive from where I live. If you ever come to Oisterwijk it's to west of Boxtel let me know.
Master of Nuhn Sat, 17th Jul '04, 1:24am Hope you have a nice time. The weather's not been great for quite a while. Hope you can bring it with you, along with feta and beautiful women, of course.
Nizidramanii'yt Sat, 17th Jul '04, 2:15pm My home sticks to the border of the Dutch. But I don't know a hell of alot about the 'anatomy' of the Dutch kingdom so...
Anywayz, enjoy the weather. Right now it's hot hot hot... (at least by Benelux standards).
And have fun.
Ancient Galatan Tue, 20th Jul '04, 8:44pm Where lies Boxtel again? I'm from Holland to, literally on the border with Germany, near the city of Enschede (firework disaster, anyone?)
Holland, the land of beer and weet.
Hugo Tue, 20th Jul '04, 8:48pm Right now, the weathers fine.
Enjoy the Clog Capital of the world :D
:borg:
Ancient Galatan Tue, 20th Jul '04, 9:09pm Erm, what is "clog"?
Harbourboy Tue, 20th Jul '04, 9:51pm A clog is a really uncomfortable looking wooden shoe which was supposedly invented in Holland. It was a precursor to the steel capped boot because if your dropped your hammer on your foot whilst wearing your clogs you wouldn't end up with a broken toe.
Drugar Thu, 22nd Jul '04, 10:35am Wooden shoes/clogs are mostly used in the Netherlands for putting plants in for your backyard... not many people can/want to walk in those damn things. Especially older people do.
@TS: have a nice time in our "kikkerland". :)
Master of Nuhn Thu, 22nd Jul '04, 11:13am Kikkerland? hehe, that reminds me. Someone called us Froggs (Kikkers) on Clogs.
Drugar Thu, 22nd Jul '04, 11:21am Yeah, Kikkerland. Holland is much reffered to by the Dutch as "ons kleine kikkerland". This literally means "our little frogland". Sound silly for non-Dutch, I know. You can think of it as "there's no place like home/Holland".
Hugo Thu, 22nd Jul '04, 11:51am Teehee, I always thought that referring to Holland as kikkerland was indicating once annoyance with the wet and chilly weather so common 'ere.
:borg:
:edit: Welcome to the boards.

Volsung Thu, 22nd Jul '04, 2:48pm So, goodbye...

Drugar Thu, 22nd Jul '04, 2:50pm Goodbye! Have a nice trip and stay in Holland!
Ancient Galatan Thu, 22nd Jul '04, 9:03pm Send me a postcard!!
We dutchmen are also called "cheeseheads".
Master of Nuhn Fri, 23rd Jul '04, 1:20am On the Frogland comments:
It was a french king that called the Netherlands 'Frogland'. Can't remember which one though. I thought Le Roi Soleil - Sunking, Louis XIV.
FYI.
Register Fri, 23rd Jul '04, 2:18am Volsung, have fun, but for the love of God and your health, don't even think of mentioning EURO2004. :D
