DM - often means 'Deathmage', not 'Dungeon Master', although he would prefer that you took the effort to spell his whole name.
Not that many people care what DM prefers.

But we used to have a Dungeon Master nick here as well, so sometimes people might also have meant him and not Deathmage or a D&D DM.
Similarly, GM is Grey Magistrate rather than a Game Master. What else... Capital DR is Death Rabbit and not a butchered version of dr.
Other acronyms are more easily connected with people's multi-word names for which they stand, such as DHB for Dark Haired Beauty.
At any rate, in most cases it can be guessed from the context if someone means to use an acronym for some phrase or to refer to a multi-word nickname.

Yupz. You are Correct Chevmeister :p
@Bahir: TRA you infidel!
IIRC means If I Recall Correctly
BRB means Be Right Back
BBIAB means Be Back In A Bit
AFK means Away From Keyboard
BBL means Be Back Later
Many more I'm sure, just read the guide to common acronyms and if you have anymore questions PM me and in the FAI (chatroom) there are always people that are willing to help (provided that there are people AT ALL but that's a different matter)
Just ask and you'll learn.
I did anyways.
