Hi, I just got a great roll with a Stalker and so far the whole character generation has been going smoothly but I am now stuck on what Racial Enemy to choose. I want to pick something common and worthy of +4 to hit and damage, yet that would fit as Elf's racial enemy.

Also I fear another thing that will be a problem is a good name for him. I've been using Nago for most of my elves(A Mordahel name, they are kinda like the Drow of Betrayal at Krondor, expept they don't live underground) so I want to choose something different for a change. He's an Elf of course, so do any of you know where I can find a list of good elven names or just some basic rules to follow when creating one?

Reply as fast as possible, since I'm eager to start this character.

As to racial enemy, I suggest vampire.

racial enemy, i only chose vampire or dragon,
but i figure that there are more vampires than dragons, it better to chose the undead.

elven names, i use "tanthalas" or "tanis" from dungeons and dragons (the trilogy), he's half-elven though, i use his name because i could not remember princess laurana's brother's name (would appreciate it if someone can post that). btw, laurana for female elves is usually my choise. or you can find a lot of nice elven names in tolkien's LOTR.

Or use Tolkien's elven languages to create some yourself.

The name of Laurana's brother is Gilthanas.

And I prefer to make up my own names, or find them somewhere. Never used the same name for two characters. But the PHB and FRCS has dozens of names. If I can't think of any I take from those books. But Rudyard Kiplings "Junglebook" (Dont know if that is what it's called in english, translated directly from the danish title), is great source of names as well. I recently used the name Dekkan, out of that book, souds cool IMO.

Racial Enemy is always a Lich, I hate the undead, and liches are the worst!

For my names: I have a little booklike thing with translations to Quenya, the most common elven language in middle earth. There are only some words in, it's not a dictionary.

For a dual-wielding elf I like Atta'macilli
Atta means 2, macil is sword, -li is for plurals.
An + word = superlative
Anvanya is The most beautiful, vanya is beautiful

Names all depend on what the characters are like, of course...
and if you like to know your own name in Orc, dwarf, elf, hobbit...go to www.barrowdowns.com (http://www.barrowdowns.com)
my orc name is Urkhósh the Slaughterer

There seem to be problems with certain parts of the barrowdowns site at the moment, or is that just me?

I also use the name generator of Spitfire often. It's a good site, however with some creativity you can also create your own names of course.

My latest names are Darzuk (Dwarf) and Eriel (Elf)

Oh and as for Racial Enemy, I choose Demonic/Fell since you encounter them often and they are quite challenging. Makes sense as a Child of Bhaal's Racial Enemy as well.

If I play female, I always use the name Arabwel. I fell in love with it when I was planning a LARP game when I was 13... I was such a naive moron those days...

Seriously, this is my user name, my character name, all that. I think I might get it trade marked if I become famous :)

Is racial enemy thing has any drawback or just advantage?

Btw. with that barrow downs site, I'm also known as ... "Horrible Healer" ... why me?!? :(

For these people who cant find barrowdowns:
Sometimes I have to type it and try it twice to get to that site, as I cant get there the first time.

Total...you should become a Priest of Talos!

and er...I also like 'Ellende' for an evil female mage. Ellende is Dutch for distress or misery.
Murray: I should be among the lesser people, terrifying them and causing pain and misery!

Choosing something as your racial enemy gets you a -4 to all reaction rolls against whatever it is.

Granted, most of the racial enemy choices will always be hostile, and the ones who aren't will ignore reaction rolls, so it all works out, IMO. :)

Boohoo, I get a -4 to reaction with Demons....bastards aren't to be trusted anyway. Maybe the Demon in the Underdark will attack me even if I remain silent? Or maybe it will be the other way around...

Uhh....navigating www.candlekeep.com (http://www.candlekeep.com) was like trudging through quicksand...I like the Fantasy names for everything but it would have been nice to at least put a list in plain english...can you give me a link directly to the name generator?
