BTW, I just copied the gem list from the SP rankings list, so if there's any I left out, you can blame it on Tal. ;) :shake:

I like Rogue Stone. We all hope to get it someday, don't we? I hate Tchazar. It doesn't even look like a gem. It's looks like weird-shaped gold bar.

I like turquoise (eye-colour and all)
Hate Tchazar too - it is not a gem, it is some leftover piece of yellow cheese.

Personally, I've always liked the King's Tear. It just looks so good, and has a neat backstory.

Andar though, has to be the ugliest thing ever foisted upon an unsuspecting world as a gemstone. It looks more like a blob then a jewel.

A blob with a really ugly color scheme. Yellow-green and red? No thanks...

I checked what gem I currently have and it's an aquamarine..incidentally also one of my favourites.

I like my gem... chrysoberyl!

And the one I hate most, is this stupid Ziose...

Going against some people, I really, really like the andar gem. It reminds me of bubblegum, specifically, (and I don't know if anyone else remembers this) the tiny Chicklets/Chiklets [the spelling is driving me nuts!] gum pieces that came in a packet about 4"x11\2" from the 70s and 80s. I haven't seen them in Newfoundland yet, but yummy. :yum:

I'm not fond of the shandon gem. Flat out (groan) it looks like an aspirin.

I aspire to the rogue stone, like everybody else. These suckers are a great idea. Good on ya, Tal! :thumb:

Personally I preferred the OLDer avatars with the gibberlings and Tal's pink dragon and stuff ;)

King's Tear is the best imo and andar sucks :p

Andar's okay; the ones I really don't like are the blah ones, like lynx eye and sunstone. I'm not too fond of the misshapen ones either. Star diopside is at least an interesting shape, but Tchazar is both ugly and misshapen.

As for my favorite, I prefer the pearl, for two reasons:
1. It has a set value (100 gp).
2. If I've got one, I probably got it by killing one of those g**d*** sirines. :D

Just kidding. Actually, if I had a gem it would be a rogue stone. That's good because that one is indeed my favorite.

King's Tear is my favourite, I don't know why but I like it.

And the one I hate is the Tchazar, Gee it's not gem it's ugly and the name is hard to pronounce AND spell...

Glittering Beljuril - Yuck! post often enough and you get to endure this :sick:

I like Andar. You should see the Sphene gem, same design different colour - sickly green.
Other favorites include Skydrop, Iol, Star Diopside, Pearl.
I hate my current gem, Moonbar, and all the gems which are cut in the same design.

I love Star Sapphires. They are very beautiful gems.

The least favourite gem was harder to decide: I chose Iol, because it's colours look kinda strange to me and it has strange fragment on it's top.

End summary (only 22 votes, unless someone else wants to cast their vote too):

Favorite is split pretty much evenly between the Rogue Stone (32%) and the King's Tears (27%), with Star Sapphire coming in third (14%).

Least favorite is overwhelmingly the Tchazar gem (32%), with the nearly worthless Turquoise coming in second (18%), and Andar is a distant third (9%).

Except that gems shouldn't look like chocolate wrappers. Toblerone's one of my fave confections, anyway. Mmm... nougat! :yum: I particularly enjoy the giant toblerone bars; taking a chunk off by biting alone is pleasingly feral.

When ever I play BG2, there are only three gems I bother keeping in my gem bag: Star Sapphires, King's Tears, and Rouge Stones.

I like Star Sapphires the most because Sapphire is my birth-stone, and they look cool. King's Tears come in close second, followed by Rouge Stones. :rolling:

The gems are regular gems from BG1, and I'm pretty certain they're all listed, so I'm not sure which one you're missing.

The Horn Coral gem is like a shiny black version of the lynx eye or sunstone. CLUAConsole:CreateItem("MISC35") if you want to check it out. I think that's the only one that's missing, since IIRC there are only 31 gems in BG1.

Oh, that one... I think I left it out back then because it doesn't look good on the dark blue post background, though it's fine on the lighter one. I guess I could put it in if there was enough interest (convince me). It'd require rearranging the whole gem ranking ladder since it's a pretty low value gem, but then, too many people have the rogue stone by now, so we could raise the requirement a bit. ;)

Oh yes please. Anything would be better than the current Tchazar.

It wouldn't replace anything, it'd be added to the existing ones.

I personally think most people fave the rogue stone simply because of its value - bag o' gold & top of the 'avatar' list; the appearance is a little...muddled IMO. Better the opal if you like rainbows and irridesence. (my wife's birthstone, too :cool: )

But my favourite is the moonstone - the pattern of crystal fractures is similar to the occurence of a star in some rare 'flawed' sapphires and rubies, etc. but MUCH more diffuse, and thus the gem just seems to glow :love:

And I think I'm in with the majority on the lackluster chz...er...titch...um...tchazar. (and that awkward name doesn't help)

As Magpie said - an ugly excuse for a Toblerone bar; not even a nice colour - some dull, dirty-looking mustard shade of yellow (I know I don't want to discover what flavour of bar that holds! :grin: ) To cut such a poor gemstone in a triangular prism is an affront to the wonderful Swiss chocolatier! :grr:

Least favourite: Actually I can't remember what I voted, but I think it was Andar or Iol. Come to think about it, I actually dislike the famous Rouge stone quite a lot. I mean, come on! It's really, really, REALLY ugly having such a bad color balance and all. It looks sort of like a seven years old kids lousy attempt to color an easter egg.

To answer Blog's question, I'm a little annoyed about it because now the amount of time that I would have had the Horn Coral is replaced by extra time with aquamarine and garnet. I don't even get to experience it! :cry: ;)
