View Full Version : If wishes were horses...
Taluntain Sat, 9th Jul '05, 2:26am Well, we'd have horses here now, but that's not the point. :shake:
Remember this post: http://www.sorcerers.net/ubb/ultimatebb.php?/topic/18/758.html ?
Well, not much to add, the ideas there are now reality. People can reply to their own posts freely in the Creativity Surge and Roleplay Corner forums, as well as the SPS Private Forum.
Especially for CS, this will be an enormous benefit, since people will finally be able to add more to their stories even if others haven't posted any comments in their threads. No more separate accounts if you want to reply to your own post there - it's freely allowed now. Mods will have to be a bit more vigilant there, but that's a small downside to the benefits.
As an added bonus, people in ANY forum can now reply to their own post after 24 hours have passed. A bump every 24 hours if no one replies shouldn't be a problem (we can extend the limit, if needed), but it should prove very useful.
Comment away...
Spellbound Sat, 9th Jul '05, 2:31am Sounds like a great modification! Pretty handy for the CSers too. I'm thinking 24 hours is pretty reasonable. :thumb:
Harbourboy Sat, 9th Jul '05, 2:33am Hey - sounds good. Probably the right balance between flexibility and control. Let's see how it goes.
Felinoid Sat, 9th Jul '05, 2:41am Wow! This is way better than a site update any day!
One thing I would suggest, though, is extending the limit to a week. This would help impulsive people (not unlike myself :shake: ) resist the urge to repost every day, trying to get a response, when someone else would have posted anyway in a couple of days. Of course, that's provided that this:
People can reply to their own posts freely in the Creativity Surge and Roleplay Corner forums, as well as the SPS Private Forum.
means that those forums don't have the time constraint applied. Otherwise, I'd say that a day is about right.
Nakia Sat, 9th Jul '05, 2:53am Hurray! Thank you, Tal.
Please, please no one abuse this privilege.
Harbourboy Sat, 9th Jul '05, 3:07am I've just tried it, in the Lions Tour thread. It's perfect for that sort of thread where nothing really happens for a week, but when it does, you want to post an update.
Charlie Sat, 9th Jul '05, 5:00am Sounds good to me. It's always good when the boards are continually being improved. It makes people participate more and should add even more members.
Edit: Great. I just got my Chrysoberyl. This will make me stay more as well. :D
Enagonios Sat, 9th Jul '05, 5:04am As an added bonus, people in ANY forum can now reply to their own post after 24 hours have passed. mwahaha moderator powers!
definitely going to be handy in the Quote game :)
Taluntain Sat, 9th Jul '05, 3:12pm Yea, I thought that since I can't finish the site update, I might as well put this up instead and make people happy. ;)
I'll leave the limit at 24 hours for now, and we'll see how that works out. I trust most people here enough that I think it won't be abused.
Arabwel Sat, 9th Jul '05, 7:59pm Oooh, this is muchly cool :D
Hugo Sun, 10th Jul '05, 12:43pm Yup, yessir. Should be handy.
3Yays for Taluntain!
*yay* *yay!* *YAY!!!*
/suckup
:borg:
Nakia Sun, 10th Jul '05, 4:13pm Whoopee!! I just did my first double post in SPS. What a great bonus.
Thank you, Tal. :D
Errol Mon, 11th Jul '05, 1:02am I believe this worked before though I think. I certainly remember this old adventure (http://www.sorcerers.net/cgi-bin/ultimatebb.cgi?/topic/12/336.html#000000) allowed me to double post. Perhaps it was long posts only?
Harbourboy Mon, 11th Jul '05, 1:35am I'm fairly certain this won't be abused because the right level of restrictions are in place. Even if you replied to your same post every day, it would hardly be the end of the world (plus it would probably have to be a pretty boring thread that had no other posts than yours, day after day.....)
Kitrax Tue, 12th Jul '05, 2:15am Tal, thou art a great sevant to thy people, and have made thy legions happy!
*And there was much rejoycing*
*Ahem!*
I mean...yay! :rolling:
The Kilted Crusader Thu, 14th Jul '05, 5:50pm Excellent idea - especially since I'll be creating a new tale for CS soon.
Taluntain Tue, 19th Jul '05, 1:47am Yes, in the past there was a character limit, but it never worked properly. This was taken out now.
