After more than three months of semi-intensive preparation, testing, fixing and adjusting the import process, I'll finally be transitioning our boards to a new message board software for real. This blessed event is planned to take place this Friday (November 2, 2007). The transition will take approximately 8-10 hours to complete, during which time our current message boards will be closed for posting.
Once the transition is finalized, the old boards will be accessible solely as read-only archives, but you will still be able to access your profile and private messages to save them (http://www.sorcerers.net/cgi-bin/ultimatebb.cgi?/topic/18/1027.html). The new boards will be accessible at a different url, which will be posted on every page of the old boards, so you will all find your way there.
I'm not going to go into details about the new boards here since we'll deal with that on-site, but one thing to remember in advance is that on the new boards, you will log in with your PUBLICLY DISPLAYED NAME (PDN) used on the current boards instead of with your login name. The password will remain the same.
Special thanks go to the SPS account holders who have beta tested our new boards and the imports and provided me with valuable feedback to make the transition as smooth as possible!
