Ok, I'm having a blast with the game so far, but a couple things have me stumped.

First is a content question. Where the heck is the captain of the militia so I can get him to take the scrawny tailor on?

Secondly is a function question. How can I check the properties of my magic items? I know if you mouse over them (after they're identified of course) you get info about AC, Weight, Movement Reduction, Armor Penalty, etc....but where is the information about what the magic item actually does? Through experimentation (and the help of my 3rd edition DMG) I know that my cloak of elvenkind gives me +10 to my hide skill, but I have some other items, like the dagger of venom, that i'd like to find out specifically what it does.

Thanks for any help.

Hello Krzzyn,

1) The captain of the militia can be found in Hommlet at the bottom left of the map in a small house.

2) Was asking myself this question too. I think that they have forgotten to implemtent that piece. Hard to pass by sutch(sp?) a big thing but things happen.

Yes, the lack of discription on magical items is a let down and a player without a DMG would certainly be in the dark. It's a big oversight, and i doubt it will be addressed in the official patch. we'll see.

BTW....I welcome you both to S.P. & the Boards of Magic. Happy gaming and remember to visit often. :thumb:

Yeah, from a quality control/detail standpoint...This game is terrible! I can't believe they let it out the door with so many things unfinished. The attention to the finer details of the game seemed to go out the window in an attempt to get it on the shelves before Christmas.

Which is sad...Because a lot of the things IN the game are so awesome! You almost get the impression from the end product that no one play tested this game at all before it was shipped. If they had, TOEE could have been the next Baldur's Gate! Unfortunately, it's just a step or two above POR: Attack on Myth Drannor. :p

I've just hit a bug with the killer frog rampage. I went back to Nulb to heal up and think things over, but left without finishing off the troll or taking the gar carcass back. So, I went back. Within a few seconds of arrival, the troll surfaces and the attack sequences begin...however the battle gets stuck on the troll's turn and never moves from that point on. Tried this over 5x with the same result. Had to finally pick up an old game (right after killing the gar) to successfully kill the troll, get the gar and then head back to town. Kind of frustrating.
