I found a great cleaver somewhere on level 2 of the temple and surprise, surprise, my cleric was able to craft magic arms with it! It's now +1 and I can't wait to imbue more with it - the only problem now is lack of gold coins.

It's a single-handed weapon but what makes it so great is the damage it deals: 1d10 with critical range 17-20x3. My paladin now hits one-fifth of the time for triple damage!

Edit : Oops, I just realized - my first upgrade for the great cleaver was to a +2 weapon. Meaning it was inherently a +1 weapon without any upgrades. :p

Oh my god! I just came across that one. I noticed the critical threat range, but thought I shouldn't pick it up, but now that I have read this, I think I'm going to keep it. :D

Besides, what sort of weapon proficiency is the cleaver? Anyone has a idea?

I had good fun equiping that giant with it ... he was really scary in melee, even more when I equiped him with a full plate armor.

I never found that Cleaver you´re talking about. Anyone willing to describe where it is on the second level?

I believe the Great Cleaver is a handaxe. There are to my knowledge three Great Cleavers in the game. They work as if they are Masterwork items, meaning that you can enchant them with Craft Magic Arms & Armor.

I enchanted my Great Cleaver with some ice damage, but to my disappointment I noticed it couldn't be enchanted more.. :( Now it's just Frost Cleaver.

What do you need to be able to add more stuff than + to your weapons? Or can you only add fire damage to certain weapons?

There it is, marked with a red X. And this is the same level where you will find Alrrem, Antonio and a bunch of trolls.

EDIT: No I found another one. It's on the same level but in the farthest northwestern corner where is a big room of bugbears (at least 20 of them). There is one door leading to a smaller room with three female bugbears and a chest with two greater temple robes. One of those bugbears carries a great cleaver.

Great Cleaver is a handaxe. I took extra proficiency with it and improved critical. No my fighter hits critically 1/3 hits and damage is tripled everytime. Really nice! :)
