How can i find the strings/values to edit the various weapons and armor in T.o.E.E. using a hex editor. Your link (which was excellent) helped me do the money, but what about the gear? Thanks

I haven't bothered trying to hex the weapons. I suspect it's possible, but you'll be hard pressed to track down the information.

The more tangible way is to give your wizard and cleric the craft-items feats with the character editor. And then just crank their experience up to 5mil and the platnium to 120k. You can slap "+1 +2 +3 Flaming Icy Shocking Burst Holy Mighty Cleaving" on everything that you want. Also, "+1 +2 +3 Spell Resistance (13) Silent Moves" on the armour. Generally, I trim the names down to "<weapon> FISB HMC".

---- Be extradordinarily careful that you do not have too long of a name on your items, or the game will crash out on you. Edit the name down as you're creating the item. ----

This is just friendly advice, in case you happen to be playing ironman and haven't changed areas in a while.

"Bracers of Archery, Greater" are nice to go along with ranged weapon focii. Proof against poison necklaces. I usually give Elmo some +6 strength gauntlets and a +6 consitution necklace, along with +5 armour bracers.

Basically, everyone in my party is like those little R2-D2's that shoot down incoming missiles.

*BRRRRAAPP!*
*BRRRRAAPP!*
*BRRRRAAPP!*

Also, crafting wands of fireball for everyone (making sure their magic item skills are in the 20's) is cool. Dude, fireballs in tToEE have retaken their rightful place within the realm of D&D; the fireball spell kicks all kinds of a-double-s that they did not in 2nd edition. There are punk llamas laying all over when I open the door; flash bangs, first, are just good tactical procedure.

thanks for the info. i do already have the wizzes and clers fabricating me top weapondry. i just wondered if someone out there new how to create or even rename existing weaponry. i see in the hex editor some places where the text string actually says 'scimitar +3' and i could fiddle with it but it did not list all the weapons my group of rapscallions have. thanks. :p

To rename it, just have someone craft it. Pick whatever you want to rename on the left, rename it on the right, and click accept. Doesn't cost you a thing but your time.

I never noticed while crafting the weapons you could also rename the damn things! thanks for pointing that out, ej

I would like to take this time to point out one specific thing:

CIRCLET OF +6 INTELLIGENCE.

You get +6 on your INT. You can cast "identify" at will. By far and large, these are the two most useful things throughout the entire game, period.

The Why:

You can setup a hotkey for the circlet. So, identifying all those light health potions isn't a circular-menu chore anymore. I say "chore" to be courteous; I truely mean "travesity". You don't have to worry about exhausting scrolls or spells or wands, and the +6 gives you a massive boost to all your skill points. You'll gain another 30 skillpoints, across all your various skills.

It costs a pretty damn penny. Something like 1400 experience points, and I think 25k gold. If you kill the two spies and their henchman, and sell the amulet, you'll have enough gold to make the circlet (depending on your appraise score; you may have cash leftover).

i find your advice quite helpful as always. Money is not a problem i hexed about 500,000. Thats a slew of experience, but im from the "final fantasy random battle" mindset and will fight foes just for the fun of it. That is an excellent weapon creation. Keep me posted if you have anymore tips or ideas. I've played a lot of D&D pc games (all except for Neverwinter, don't ask...)and i feel T.o.E.E. is a great engine but just need's polished (or buffed). I'm saddened for the lack of interest in it. I hope they will expand and, of course, improve upon the Troika engine. Its visuals and addition of little extra (like cloaks that you can see on the characters and choosing height) that make some of its shortcomings mostly bearable.

One more thing, you can craft alomst any item you can wear or use by casting magic weapon or magic vestment on it. Just cast the spell then notice that the item now apears in your crafting menu. You can even enhance helmets, amulets and other things. The effects will not stack though, so don't waste too much XP and Gold on many items. ;)
